By Terry Rouge Terribly Age-Defense Lipstick #100 Terribly Nude Review & Swatches

 Purchased by me
According to By Terry, Rouge Terribly Lipsticks have the following attributes:
  • Age Defense Lipsticks
  • Nutri-Replenishing High Color
  • Hydra-Volumizer
  • Lumilip® Technology
The first volume & firmness lipstick enriched with the BY TERRY exclusive and anti-aging Lumilip® Technology to rejuvenate and embellish every smile with silky colors. An extra-comfort and « push-up » lip elixir, wrapped in its satin bag for a beauty touch-up at any time.
A LUMILIP ® Technology, exclusive to By Terry:
  • For A “Push-Up” Effect : Kiss Me Quick Extract
  • For A Hydra-lift Effect: Hyaluronic Filling Spheres
  • For A Tensor – Firming Effect : Ceramids
A volumising and firming lipstick enriched with the By Terry exclusive anti-ageing Lumilip Technology to rejuvenate and embellish lips. An extra-comforting and plumping lip elixir which combines rich colours and active ingredients with an anti-ageing formula that works to prevent thinning of the lips. Filled with ultra pure high colour pigments, the texture offers complete and extra-smoothing colour. Extra-fine and silky-smoothing, it glides onto the lips and reshapes the contours without heaviness, plumping them without drying. Delicately perfumed and filled with active ingredients, it pampers the lips and repairs them in depth. Suitable for all lip types.
Everything about the Rouge Terribly Lipstick formula is ultra-luxe from the sleek silver metal lipstick tube embellished with the By Terry logo to the magnetic closure. The attention to detail continues to the laser cut Terribly logo donned by the lipstick itself. The lipstick is quintessentially By Terry from the signature rose scent to the remarkably creamy and luxurious application.
It is quite moisturizing with a nice amount of slip and cushion, and it feels lovely on the lips. The coverage is buildable, but can easily be or sheered out. I generally get about 3 hours of wear-time from this lipstick, but imagine that the more pigmented shades would provide longer wear.
The color is the pinky nude shade that I have been looking for since I was a teenager! I used to have an amazing lip crayon in a color that very closely approximates this shade, therefore my excitement is in part informed my the conclusion of a very long search.

Ingredients:
Overall assessment: This is the perfect pinky nude My Lips But Better shade for me! The formula is fantastic, but those with an aversion to fragrant lip products will likely be displeased with this aspect of the lipstick (though the scent does fade). The price is quite high, therefore I can't say that you really need to add this to your stash. If, however, you have a deep love of all things By Terry (and don't mind spending $50.00 on a single lipstick), and you are looking for the perfect pinky nude lipstick- then I would say that this lovely lipstick is well worth your consideration.

Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free SPF 15 in Shell: Review & Swatches

 Purchased by me/Affiliate Link
Created by renowned beauty expert Carisa Janes, Hourglass brings timeless extravagance and style to the über-chic beauty junkie, all in one clutch-worthy collection. From lush shades to incredibly luxurious packaging, makeup has never been so pretty—or perfecting. Every product in the Hourglass line is formulated with the latest in cosmetic technology. Cutting-edge ingredients work to smooth and soften the skin, while innovations in packaging give the line its super chic appeal. Hourglass opens your eyes to a beautiful new reality: style and substance can coexist.

Barneys posits that Illusion Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free SPF 15 is, "the perfect alternative to liquid foundation, Illusion is an advanced SPF 15 tinted moisturizer formulated with Instalift at 3 percent and Hyaluronic Filling Spheres at 3 percent to deliver a radiant youthful complexion. A natural-based peptide, Instalift visibly lifts and tightens the skin within an hour of application. Intensely moisturizing Hyaluronic Filling Spheres help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while increasing skin's hydration levels."

Illusion Tinted Moisturizer is filled with anti-aging complexes that create an utterly gorgeous glowing complexion.  I would add that the cover and finish is absolute perfection, and that it will appeal to those who favor medium coverage foundations as well as those who prefer to use tinted moisturizers. It imparts the perfect illuminated finish with buildable coverage, and it perfects the appearance of the skin while remaining natural looking. I think that this might just be the perfect tinted moisturizer ever conceived!

Ultra-rich and deeply moisturizing, Illusion offers moderate coverage to help even out skintone and create a natural, flawless finish. Added Instalift® at 3% lifts and visibly tightens the skin within one hour of application. Hyaluronic Filling Spheres™ at 3% help minimize the appearance of wrinkles while increasing skin's hydration levels to deliver a healthy, dewy radiance.

Instalift® is a "Plant-based active glycopeptide designed to help improve skin firmness as well as collagen and antioxidant activities. Visibly lifts and tightens within first hour of application."

The Hyaluronic Filling Spheres are made from "pure Hyaluronic Acid to increase hydration levels to deliver skin-smoothing and softening results."
While this is an oil-free formula, it does provide "intense hydration without feeling heavy or greasy." It was formulated to be ideal for normal and dry/dehydrated skin, but I have to say that it is absolute perfection for my combination skin. It really is the perfect alternative to liquid foundation, and it visibly lifts and tightens the skin within about an hour of application. I just love the way that my skin looks and feels with this amazing product.

Suggested use: Shake well and apply to fingertips or a foundation brush for flawless coverage. I tend to prefer applying it with my fingers, but a foundation brush works brilliantly as well.
Shell in direct natural light.

Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint in Lychee- Review & Swatches

Purchased by me
Bite Beauty "is an all-natural lip care company operating out of downtown Toronto." Their mission is to "create lipstick that is high performance and healthy enough to eat for women everywhere." Their message seems to be one that promotes good health, top quality products, and a rudimentary desire to inspire their customers to use products that are simultaneously pleasing and healthy to use while remaining perfectly on-trend.

This is where we keep our inspirations – things we see, things we hear, things we wear. We’ll share what we can and teach what we know.
Bite Beauty products are, "Edgy, Edible, Innovation for Lips."

According to Sephora, Lush Lip Tints are a "revolutionary lip tint formula that delivers luscious color with an ultra-glossy finish," and "this lustrous lip tint contains pure argan oil, vitamin E and fruit butters to hydate, nourish, and revitalize lips. While delivering long-lasting color, this product works to sooth and soften the lips, making your pout extra kissable. The center B provides resveratrol, a double dose of antioxidants found in red wine."
I have wanted to try many of Bite's products for a while, but finally picked this lip treat up on my last trip to Sephora. I can't express how happy I am that I did. What you may have already noted about me is the fact that I seldom just purchase products spontaneously. I tend to thoroughly research products first, try out numerous samples, and then buy once I am reasonably certain that I will really love something. I tend to be a fairly definitive person about my likes and dislikes, and I really prefer to bring home known winners. Therefore, short story long- after much deliberation, and plenty of stalking and swatching  at the Bite display- I finally picked up their Lush Lip Tint in Lychee. I don't know why I waited so long- this is one of my very favorite and most reached for lip products now!
Lychee is a wonderful nude pink shade that feels as great as it looks. It has the look and feel of my favorite hybrid lipstick formulas that reside somewhere in the heavenly realm between a lipstick and a lip balm. It has the perfect amount of cushion and slip, and lasts for several hours before the need to reapply. The outer pigmented portion of the Lip Tint delivers the perfect amount of pigmentation while the inner "B" section delivers potent moisturizers and antioxidants. Furthermore, the healthy ingredients leave no concern about the effects of ingesting this product.
It feels unbelievably good on the lips and has a faint natural fruity smell and taste, but that subsides in very little time. When wearing this little gem, I shudder to think of how much lipstick and lip gloss that I have ingested over the years. Yet one sacrifices nothing in quality, and gains everything in health when choosing to use Bite Beauty lip products. I am unsure as to why it took me so long to make this purchase, but mark my words there will be more Bite Beauty products in my future. In the short period of time that I have had this tube, I have reached for it far more than anticipated.
What it is formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs & Triclosan.
Ingredients:
Overall assessment: I want more! This is a lovely product in every single way. There are 8 colors available, and there is a shade to suit everyone. If you are like me- I suspect that you will note many shades that will suit you (somewhere around 8). I am now inspired to try Bite's other formulas as well. This is a fantastic product from an innovative company, and both are well worth getting to know!

Gotukola Youth Spring Shampoo- Review

Press Sample
Gotukola Youth Spring hair products contain "the Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) plant extract which has been used for thousands of years in India and China for its medicinal purposes. It has been used to heal wounds, improve mental clarity, and treat skin conditions such as leprosy and psoriasis. It has been called the 'fountain of life' because legend has it that an ancient Chinese herbalist lived for more than 200 years as a result of taking the gotukola herb."

Gotukola posits, "in modern days, it is considered as among those that has the potential to treat hair loss and baldness problems. Gotukola is rich in vitamin B and K along with other nourishing ingredients to soften hair as well as providing a protective layer to seal spit ends. In addition, Gotukola’s active ingredients leave your hair and scalp cleansed as well as returning your hair to its natural PH level which will help prevent color fading. Gotukola also contains vitamin E that has a dual purpose that promotes overall health and UV protection."
It is also believed, according to Gotukola, "to protect the hair follicles from the harmful activity caused by Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT in the hair follicles is considered to be a major cause of male pattern baldness." They developed their unique formula in the Gotukola laboratories with an emphasis on preventative treatments for the premature hair loss due to environmental conditions.
Gotukola’s products restore and revive hair giving it flexibility and softness." Gotukola's patented ingredients "are one of a kind and our guarantee is that Gotukola products will renew and rejuvenate your hair, leaving it looking and feeling great."

Gotukola Youth Spring Shampoo nourishes the hair leaving it silky soft, moisturized, manageable, and with an unbelievable glossy shine. It never leaves the hair weighed down or greasy, but instead leaves the hair very smooth to the touch. The shampoo itself is so moisturizing that it does wonders in detangling my hair even before I use a conditioner. As previously noted, I have tried so many products on my naturally curly hair, and very few ever leave it glossy and shiny, but Gotukola products give me glossy moisturized hair that is sumptuously soft and silky. For those with curly hair, I needn't tell you that our hair tends to be on the dry side. It is therefore incumbent on those with curly hair to use moisture rich haircare products in order to receive adequate moisture- lest you want to have hair that looks and feels like straw. In Gotukola I have found a  soulmate for my hair, and while their products that I have featured are formulated for all hair types- I can say that this line really does address the needs of curly hair with great efficacy! Like their hair mask and hair oil (reviewed here and here), this shampoo has a very pleasant scent that somehow oddly defies description. As I have said before, every single time that I endeavor to describe the scent all I manage to muster is "pleasant" or "comforting." It truly is both of those things!
Ingredients:
Overall assessment: Absolutely best in class, and a game changer for my curly hair! I have only used three of their products, but definitely want to try others!

Gotukola's patented ingredients "are one of a kind and our guarantee is that Gotukola products will renew and rejuvenate your hair, leaving it looking and feeling great."
Gotukola Youth Spring Hair Oil is a luxuriously rich and moisturizing leave-in treatment oil that nourishes the hair leaving it silky soft, moisturized, manageable, and with an unbelievable glossy shine. While the oil is rich, it is likewise very light. It never leaves the hair weighed down or greasy, but instead leaves the hair very smooth to the touch. This is a very concentrated oil- thus a little really goes a very long way. I have tried so many products on my naturally curly hair, and very few ever leave it glossy and shiny, but this oil most certainly does. In fact, all of the Gotukola products that I have tried have made my hair so manageable- and with an unprecedented shine. Like their hair mask (reviewed here), this lovely hair oil has a very pleasant scent that somehow oddly defies description. Every single time that I endeavor to describe it all I manage to muster is "pleasant" or "comforting." It truly is both of those things!

Gotukola oil treatment is an utterly pure and light formula, which is absorbed by the hair instantly, resulting in a natural silky, shiny finish. Gotukola Oil also has the ability to repair and restores hair cells and protect hair from environmental and chemical procedures.
The oil is rich on moisture, but remarkably light in texture.
Overall assessment: Everyone will benefit from this extraordinary hair oil, but those who have unruly curly hair will truly be shocked to see the way in which it transforms their once unruly tresses into glorious glossy locks! It is quite concentrated- so a little really goes a long way, and unless you have very long hair this bottle should last you a good long time. A must-have for me! Another A+ product from Gotukola! I can hardly wait to try more of their extraordinary products!

Scünci Hair Chalk: Review & Swatches!

     Press Sample
Scünci Hair Chalk is a fun and affordable way to enjoy temporary hair color without an expensive trip to the salon, and it is very easy to use if you follow a few simple steps. After brushing your hair, simply glide the chalk application tool through the section of hair that you wish to color. You will note that it looks and functions much like a flat iron. Once you have reached the desired level of color then you can set the color with hairspray. It really is just that easy. Watch the Scünci Hair Chalk video here.
As with most hair chalks, they do have a tendency to become a bit messy, but are easily cleaned off of surrounding surfaces.
     Skin swatches
Hair swatches of the pink chalk

Overall assessment: I will note, in my experience, that this product was more easily applied to straight hair than to naturally curly hair. When I applied it to my curly hair it was far less cooperative than it was when my sister applied it to her straight hair. I did have to endure a bit of tugging and pulling, but my sister did not. That said, if you have curly hair, I would suggest first applying a leave-in conditioner to smooth out the surface of the hair- once I did this the chalk glided on with ease! Hair chalk is a really fun way to play with color without the commitment!

Approximately $7.99 at Walmart, Walgreens & CVS. (Unaffiliated links included for your convenience).

Nordstrom Beauty: Making Waves Eye & Cheek Palette- Review & Swatches

    Press Sample & Affiliate Links
    According to Nordstrom,

"Inspired by the colors of surf and sand, a beautiful palette takes you from a day at the beach to a night out on the town. Tucked into a space-saving compact, the hand-picked colors of the season are ready for home or on-the-go."
Beneath the name card is a very handy large mirror (shown above in the stock photo).
The Making Waves Eye & Cheek Palette includes one blush, one bronzer and six eye shadows
Each of the 8 shades is incredibly soft and silky. They are all very finely milled making application a dream.

Peach Glow Blush (top left): is a beautifully pigmented and silky smooth peachy coral with golden pearl.

Bronze Bronzer (bottom left): is a warm burnished umber. This richly pigmented bronzer can also be used to contour, and offers the perfect golden glow.

Moonlit Eye Shadow (top row second from left): is a lovely glowing moonlit oyster white that is not only gorgeous on the eyes, but it also makes for one stupendous highlighter for the face. It imparts the most subtle and sophisticated glow.

Dusty Pink Eye Shadow (top row third from the left): is a lovely and subtle soft cool-toned pink. Like Moonlit, it works beautifully on the eyes, but is likewise one stunning highlighter. It also imparts a very subtle and sophisticated sheen that is sure to delight even the most hard-to-please highlighter aficionado.

Soft Gray Eye Shadow (top row far right): What an unbelievably gorgeous and infinitely wearable gray. It is soft and silky, and is perfect for a quick wash of color on the lid to accompany a cat eye winged liner. I will hit the pan on this shade in no time flat.

Mocha Eye Shadow (bottom row second from the left): Taupe lovers rejoice- this is one gorgeous taupey brown! If you don't hit the pan on this amazing shade then you don't truly covet taupe eye shadows!

Mineral Eye Shadow (bottom row third from the left): this is a very wearable forest green that boasts a chameleon-like complexity. The sheen is refined and subtle, and it is one of the prettiest greens that I have seen in some time.

Slate Eye Shadow (bottom row far right): This is a gorgeous slate with a steely dark blue undercurrent. It is utterly stunning and infinitely wearable. This also makes for one stunning eye liner!
Left to right: Peach Glow Blush, Bronze, Moonlit, Dusty Pink, Soft Gray, Mocha, Mineral, and Slate.
All of the shades can be built up to maximum vibrancy and opacity or sheered out.
There is an ethereal glow to each of the shades, and the sheen is subtle and refined throughout this entire palette. Additionally, I noted excellent wear time across the board. The eye shadows lasted all day on me without creasing. Without a primer the colors only faded somewhat by the end of the day, but with a primer there was no fading whatsoever. That said, I do not have oily lids- so your wear time may vary. Neither the blush nor the bronzer faded on me, and while I have combination skin- my cheeks aren't in the least bit oily- therefore your wear time may differ from mine.
Overall assessment: An absolute must-have palette in my book. The quality is amazing, and yet the price is so affordable. The palette itself features an efficient magnetic closure, and it measures approximately 4" x 5".  Bravo Nordstrom- you knocked it out of the park with this palette!

This is also perfectly paired with the lovely Nordstrom 5 Piece Travel Brush Set in Bright Orange (reviewed here)!

$24.95 A Nordstrom exclusive. (Affiliate link).
