Tom Ford Beauty Showdown: Silvered Topaz vs. She Wolf Swatched

 Purchased by me (Affiliate links)

When the Bronzer Bunny asked how Silvered Topaz (reviewed here) compared to She Wolf- I said that I would swatch and post them together. I think that comparing the two is actually a great idea, and hope that it will prove to be helpful to those of you trying to decide between them- or to strengthen your resolve to purchase (or avoid purchasing) the one that you don't have.
Left to Right: Silvered Topaz (neutral champagne sparkling glitter shade, satin gray taupe shimmer, satin taupe & a plum-tinged brown) & She Wolf (Deep black-brown, grayed taupe, & a silvered taupe)
When viewed side by side, it becomes evident that Silvered Topaz leans plum whereas She Wolf does not. While both are decidedly cool-leaning, they are neutral enough that they appear less cool when juxtaposed to warmer makeup. They are both utterly gorgeous, and are both ultra finely milled.
I am very happy with them, and find them different enough to warrant owning both. That said, if I had to choose just one I would definitely buy She Wolf since it is limited edition, and getting harder to find.

Silvered Topaz is $78.00 and available from Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf Goodman & Saks Fifth Avenue. (Affiliate Links).

She Wolf is $60.00 and available from Neiman Marcus. (Affiliate link).

  1. Oh thanks so much for the comparison. I didn't know Silvered Topaz pulls so much purple, this explains why I like it so much ;-)) If I had to choose just one "Quad" and have to give away all of the others in the world, that would be Silvered Topaz for me :-))

    1. Hi Sara, My pleasure-- I'm glad that you found the comparison useful! I know how much you love Silvered Topaz-- and it looks so gorgeous on you! It is deceptively plummy when compared to She Wolf. The matte "brown" shade definitely has a purple undertone! I definitely see why it is your very favorite quad! :-)

  2. Hey Helen, thanks for the comparison! I got to swatch She Wolf, but I think it's too gray for my skin tone. Silvered Topaz actually looks like something I can pull off more easily though!

    1. Hi Sunny!! You are very welcome! I'm glad that they are helpful to you. I actually think that She Wolf would be GORGEOUS on you, but Silvered Topaz is probably more comfortably wearable by more people since the coolness can more easily be softened. :-)

  3. Hi -
i think this post illustrates how us beauty lovers collect so many palettes- at first glance they look so similar - but once swatched the beauty and nuances of each palette comes to light-

    1. I completely agree with every single word! It is those very nuances that serve to justify our excessive expenditures!!!! <3

  4. This is wonderful! The colors are stunning. I am taken by the lovely dark browns in both palettes and the shimmery light tones.
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving along with your wild family.
    Happy Friday!

    1. I agree, wefadetogray! Both palettes are just stunning! We had a crazy Thanksgiving since my sister is moving this week-- so it was filled with lots of packing punctuated by bouts of turkey eating! I hope that yours was wonderful! xoxox

  5. I can't actually get either of these up here (cue violins), so it's not really an issue, but I'd go with She Wolf for my skin tone as well. I find it's incredibly difficult to find cool browns and these just look so well done. EVENTUALLY my TF counter is going to get the whole collection, rather than just the lipsticks and nail polishes. I hope.

    1. My violins are cued-- I still just find it ridiculous that it takes some lines so much time to make it to Canada! It's a mixed blessing that you don't have the whole TF line yet-- because once you do you will likely have a much lighter wallet! :-)

    1. Hi Joyce! You are so welcome! I love She Wolf, and am so glad that you have it! Thankfully you don't have to rush out to get Silvered Topaz since it isn't limited edition, but it definitely is gorgeous!

  7. You are a dangerous woman to know. Your swatches make them look so wonderful. I hope that I can see these in person one day now that Nordstrom has started carrying more of the line.
