Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Edition Review & Swatches

Purchased by me (Affiliate links)
Hourglass describes their Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick formula as, "a lustrous, long-lasting and refillable cream lipstick that hydrates and softens lips. The silky, richly pigmented formula defines and shapes the lips as it moisturizes for a plush cushiony effect."

Features:

• Light as air formula immediately hydrates and softens lips for a luxurious feel and subtle shine.
• Unique blend provides excellent skin-smoothing, moisture-enhancing and restorative properties.
• Super antioxidant Vitamin E conditions and treats lips.
• Long-lasting and refillable with lipstick cartridges sold separately.
• Free of parabens, phthalates and sulfates.
Edition is described as a soft neutral pink shimmer, and I would say that is an accurate description of the shade. Edition is a sheer light pink, and it neither leans too cool, nor too warm.  It has gorgeous glossy finish kissed by the most gorgeous pink shimmer. While it is quite sheer, a few passes does intensify the effect and deepen the color.  It is the most sheer of the Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipsticks that I have tried, therefore if you prefer opaque lipsticks there are many others to choose from.
The cream formula is very comfortable on the lips and boasts the perfect amount of slip and cushion. I find that the formula is quite hydrating, and my lips are left soft and supple whenever I wear this sparkling little gem. I find that I get between 3-4 hours of wear time from Edition- which is quite good for a more sheer formula.
Edition is such a joy to wear, and it makes for one perfect sheer pink pout!
If you love hybrid lipsticks like Chanel Rouge Coco Shines- then you will adore Edition.

    1. Do you mean these sheer pinks or Hourglass lipsticks, in general? They have lots that are more opaque!

  5. Oh what a beauty... It looks very close to one of my all time fav sheer lippie, Chanel Boy. Maybe to one is more pink though. I should definitely try more Hourglass if I can get my hands on it since they don't sell it in Germany and Zuneta stopped selling them. I need to do bit of a research :-) Thanks so much for the review.

    1. Hi Sara- you know after I posted it- the exact same thing occurred to me. I just dug Boy out of my pile (BTW, it remains my very favorite Rouge Coco Shine), and I will take comparison swatches when the sun comes out. It is si sad that Zuneta is no more- or that it merged with Cult Beauty. I used to buy my Rouge Bunny Rouge from them before it was available in the US. Now Edward Bess and Hourglass are so much harder to find outside of the US :( I really like a lot of the Hourglass products, but if you have to pay over inflated prices in shipping it might not be worth the hassle or expense.

    2. Hi Sara! I just posted side by swatches of Boy & Edition-- they are pretty close to identical! Your suspicions were correct!

    4. My pleasure, sweetie. The feeling is completely mutual! Chanel Boy is awesome, and it remains my VERY favorite of the Rouge Coco Shines! I'm not surprised that you have used up tow of them! You need to try the Burberry Lip Mists as well!

    1. A novel concept that I am contemplating. I would really like to finish up a single lipstick or lip gloss this year. I have so many that it frightens me to open the big deep drawer and look at how many lip glosses and lipsticks are sitting there not getting nearly enough love! I'm glad that you love the photos!
