Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream Review & Swatches

That I have rather limited experience with BB Creams generally does not stop me from recognizing that Hydroxatone has a really good one. I tend to be a tinted moisturizer, sheer foundation kind of girl, and this product fits right into my comfort zone in that way. Additionally, I am taken by the concept that their BB Cream has anti-aging skincare benefits- which is always a plus in my book.

According to the company,

Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream with Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Sunscreen is your all-in-one multi-tasking perfecting cream . It hydrates, conceals, protects, reduces the look of aging and brightens skin in just one step. BB cream is also known as Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm and is recently among Asia's hottest beauty products.

BB Cream acts as an all-in-one product with cosmetic beauty and skincare benefits. This perfecting multi-functional cream can act as a foundation, concealer, sunblock, and moisturizer all at once BB cream was initially formulated and used by dermatologists to help patients who received laser surgery protect, soothe and refine their sensitive skin while also providing them with a light coverage for post-laser scars, acne, and other skin imperfections.

  • Works perfectly under foundation, or all on its own.
  • Contains a highly effective level of Vitamin C.
  • Vitamin C help stimulate collagen used during the skin's own regenerative process.
Keys to efficacy:
Vitamin C: Support optimal skin health by promoting the skin's own regenerative properties help stimulate collagen used during the skin's own regenerative process.
PhytoCellTec™: Formulated with an ingredient that help skin stem cells maintain their natural renewal capacity.
PhytoCellTec™& EMortal™: Formulated with ingredients that increase the vitality of the skins' stem cells. Contains ingredients that support the natural renewal process of the skin
SPF 40 Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB: protects the skin from the elements including harmful UV rays and oxidative stress.
My experience: First of all, the texture is very creamy and silky, and it feels fantastic on my skin. It is very hydrating for my combination skin, but I do not use it in lieu of my regular moisturizer. The coverage is light to medium and buildable, but I doubt that you will be able to achieve full coverage. I really like that it contains an SPF of 40, but I do still apply my regular sunscreen beneath the BB Cream. My skin looks fantastic when I wear this BB Cream- it imparts a beautiful radiance, a clarity, and an unmistakable smooth and healthy appearance. While it does last all day, I do have to reapply a little when I reapply my regular sunscreen on the days that I am outside and exposed to the sun. When I do remove it at the end of the day, I do notice that my skin continues to look radiant, soft and smooth. I cannot comment on the long term anti-aging benefits because I have not yet used it long enough to make a determination in that respect. However, the Vitamin C coupled with the antioxidant rich formula is undoubtedly responsible for the radiance that I see when I wear this BB Cream.

For someone who prefers a full coverage foundation, this would make a lovely tinted primer on the days that you desire full coverage and added protection. However, on those days when you prefer less coverage- then this BB Cream will fit the bill all by itself. Tinted moisturizer fans will likely be as thrilled with this BB Cream as I am.

Overall assessment: This is a really lovely BB Cream. I love the way that it makes my skin look and feel. I find it to be quite concentrated- therefore I use it rather sparingly, but I do prefer the lighter coverage of tinted moisturizers. This is a solid performer that is well worth your consideration. I will definitely be using this entire tube, and will repurchase it once I finish.

    1. You are so welcome, Jamilla! I really like the way this looks and feels. It is also nice that there are more colors to choose from than most BB Creams seem to offer. I checked out the new one from Guerlain, and while it is so lovely it only has 2 shades-- one too light, and the other too dark for me. There need to be more on the market that accommodate a far greater range of skin tones! This one is definitely worth looking into, and I am surprised by just how often I am reaching for it these days!

  4. I use my BB creams like you do. I prefer using moisturizer and a sunscreen first but when I'm in a hurry the BB cream has to do for all.

    1. Me too, Cathi! It's nice to have multi-taskers- especially when time is short in the morning! I agree that the SPF 40 is a definite plus, and you are so right- protecting your skin is most definitely one of the very best anti-aging treatments that you can give yourself. 7. Do you have to remove the bb cream with a makeup remover or just a normal facial cleansing?

    1. Hi there. I wrote this review 7 years ago, and from what I remember I just removed it with my normal facial cleansing.
