Empties Post Volume XI: June 2013

Despite the fact that there are still 12 days left in the month there is little chance that I will use anything else up by months end. I managed to finish up two full size conditioners, two full size soaps, a few deluxe samples, a couple sample packets, and 14 perfume samples. Not too bad, all things considered!

Surya Brasil Amazonia Preciosa Brazil Nut Conditioner is a really lovely deeply nourishing natural hair conditioner. I liked it so much that I even added water at the end to get the last bits attached to the side of the bottle! Surya Brasil is a wonderful company, and they make simply amazing products!

Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner is a staple in our household. It is an effective, affordable, and cruelty free line, and it even works well on my naturally curly hair.

Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Soap was the first luxury soap that I ever used. I began using it when I was a teenager, and in the last few years started using it again. It does a great job exfoliating the skin leaving it beautifully radiant. It is a very dense and long lasting bar, therefore it always feels like a huge accomplishment when I actually finish one!

Shannon's Soaps Vanilla Bean Soap is pure heaven. I am always a little sad when I finish one of Shannon's beautiful handmade soaps because they are so delightful.

REN Omega 3 Night Repair Serum and the Mayblossom Balancing Cleansing Gel were both part of my REN Six of the Best Set- the Omega 3 Night Repair Serum is a lovely antioxidant rich oil night serum- you simply apply it at night and then you wake up with gorgeous glowing skin. Some people do complain that the scent is too earthy for them, but the results are undeniable. The Mayblossom Balancing Cleansing Gel is fantastic for people with combination to oily skin, and I loved using it with my Clarisonic.

TATCHA sample packets of Gentle and Deep Polished Rice Enzyme Powders- I regularly use the Classic Rice Enzyme Power, but the Gentle and Deep versions are equally fantastic. TATCHA is a line  that is well worth your attention- it really does live up to the hype! These cleansing/exfoliating powders leave your skin indescribably clean and baby-bottom soft. AMAZING!!!

Miscellaneous perfume samples- none of which resulted in purchases. Nothing was wrong with any of them- they simply didn't really work well with my body chemistry.

  1. Hi Lola, just discovered your blog and absolutely LOVE it! The Erno Mud soap sounds lush! Will have to see whether it's available in the UK.

I was looking to invest in some Sunday Riley products, specifically the Juno Serum, adrenaline cream, eye cream and SPF cashmere, but wanted to check with you whether you still feel they are worth the investment? I think you are very through and honest with reviews so your opinion would help :) xx

    1. Hi Parveen! Welcome to my little blog- I am so glad that you found it, and are loving it! :D

You can actually buy Erno Laszlo at Harrod's- they relaunched there last year, if memory serves. Sunday Riley products are definitely quite expensive- I would try to get sample packets before making the investment- to see whether it works for you, or whether you even like the line. While many people love the line, as with any line there are people who don't like it. With skincare, I always like to try samples first because you can try before you buy-- which can save you lots of money in the long run. Since you don't have easy return policies in the UK- as we have here in the US- I would think that it would be even more important to try samples first!! Keep me posted!! :-) xoxo

    2. Thanks Lola :)
Will now be checking that soap out in Harrods! Re: Sunday Riley, it's difficult to get samples of high end skincare in the UK, I find. I have always been unsuccessful in the past but will try my luck again at Space NK (fingers crossed). Will certainly keep you posted :) xoxo

    3. My pleasure, Parveen! I am betting that you will be able to get some samples from SpaceNK. In the US they have samples of Sunday Riley products- so I suspect as long as you are able to find a location that actually stocks the line in store (as opposed to just online)- they you should be able to get your hands on some sample packets. My fingers are crossed for you! I look forward to hearing more@ :-) xoxo

    1. Thanks, Iris!! Finishing two is doing a great job as far as I am concerned! It is so easy to forget about all of the perfume samples that we end up accumulating over time! Have a lovely weekend!! <3

    1. Hi Charlotte,

The REN serum is quite lovely! I know what you mean- it's always more fun when you are just using things that you truly love. Sometimes I find that I get bored with what I am using-- even if I started out loving it- particularly if it comes in a HUGE bottle!! Have a lovely weekend!
