Tom Ford Beauty Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust (LE) From the Summer Collection 2013- Review & Swatches

Purchased by me
Tom Ford Beauty Lip Lacquer in Pink Lust (Limited Edition) is a beautiful lip gloss from the Summer 2013 Collection, and it really is a beautiful  pink.

Tom Ford's opulent lip accessory: a clear gloss that lacquers lips with precious pulverized pearls, creating a reflective shine and a lavishly soft feel. Use on bare lips for a polished, sophisticated look or layer over Tom Ford lip color for a deeply sexy sheen.

As a girl with an unmitigated penchant for pink lip gloss I had to have Pink Lust. It is a really pretty light pink. The color has a chameleon-like quality in that it modulates from a peach-kissed pink to a cooler pink as the light dances across the surface. It is a pearl-rich formula just on the verge of a frost, but rather than being perceived as a glitter-bomb it is a beautifully twinkling gloss with a prismatic quality. The color itself is not terribly unique, and it is actually quite sheer on the lips, but it is beautiful nonetheless. The formula is richly hydrating and completely non-sticky, and provides thin comfortable coverage. The wear-time is considerably diminished because of the consistency, but it feels so great on the lips that you probably won't mind reapplying it.
That said, the short wear-time and need for reapplication may not comport to your idea of a cost-effective, albeit gorgeous, lipgloss. At $30.00 for a .050 oz tube, it isn't the best price to product ratio, but that's hardly a deterrent for Tom Ford fans. I'm very happy with my purchase, but I can say with certainly that it won't take me too much time to get through this tube.
While Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman are sold out online there are probably still a few to be found in some of the physical stores, but as of this morning Pink Lust has reappeared on the Saks Fifth Avenue website with a "pre-order" status and an expected ship date of June 4.

Overall assessment: I'm very happy with my purchase, but if you are on a tight budget this is definitely not a must-have. It is gorgeous, but the color is not unique. The formula is magnificent, but part and parcel with this magnificence is a short wear-time, and that will not make this tube very long-lasting.

  2. I've owned, at one time or another, all three of TF's lip lacquers and I must say that this one is my favorite. It has a gorgeous, refined golden pearl in a soft, warm pink base that will flatter young and old alike. There's nothing garish about it. Worn alone, it is a nude lover's dream come true; worn over another color, it adds richness and dimension. The day after I originally purchased this, I was so taken with it's laid-back, summertime elegance that I promptly purchased another to keep in my purse. The moisturizing formula is also a definite bonus for my dry lips.

As for the price, TF isn't courting the cost-conscious crowd. His cosmetics are definitely an indulgence. In the case of his summer collection; however, I've found every product to be well worth the splurge.

    1. Hi Eileen! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I had a feeling that I might bump into you at the Nordstrom Trend Event at Topanga-- so I kept an eye out for you, but alas no such luck.

I completely agree with your assessment about Pink Lust. It is truly lovely, and not in the least bit garish. It is a nude lover's dream, and it definitely adds richness and dimension. The formula is definitely fantastic, and that it is so moisturizing is a definite bonus. It's funny, I have stopped buying back-ups because quite frankly I have too many of them that I have yet to get to, but this is one of the few items that I may just repurchase before they are gone!

No question that TF isn't intended for the cost-conscious demographic, and his devotees certainly covet his pieces and are willing to make the splurge. I have been very slow to dip my toe into the pool-- I have a couple of blushes, a lipgloss, Pink Lust, and the Illuminating Blush Guilt (that will arrive the day after tomorrow).

  4. I am amazed by this color. It is what I dream about - seriously. I'm just so leery of spending this much and then it's gone in half an hour. I don't enjoy reapplying lip products. Yet I still do want this.

    1. The color is really stunning, no question. I know what you mean, but it really is a gorgeous color. I'm tempted to get a back-up, and I have stopped doing that!! It is on the sheer side on the lips when worn alone, but I think that it is worth it. I can't say that it is a must have for everyone based upon the luxury price tag, but I suspect that you would truly enjoy it down to the last drop. As someone who has an excessive number of lip glosses- I know there is little chance of me getting through many of them, but I can tell you right now that I will definitely be using this one up :-)
