By Request: My Stash of Facial Cleansers

I received a request to reveal my entire skincare stash, but that would make for one mighty overwhelming post to contemplate. Therefore, I decided the only sane way to tackle this task was to break it into types of products. As a result of this choice, logic dictated that I do so in the order that I would use the products- thus I began with my cleansers.

I tend to rotate cleansers based upon the needs of my skin at any given moment. The exception is when I am testing out new products because one has to use them for an uninterrupted and sustained period of time in order to determine their efficacy.

1) Tatcha One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil (review forthcoming). Best cleansing oil that I have tried!
2) *Relogy Dual Action Treatment Foam (reviewed here). Very effective and gentle!
3) *Coral Actives Retinol Exfoliating Cleanser (reviewed here). You had me at Retinol! Wonderful!
4) Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser (reviewed here). Nice creamy lather!
5) Sponge- Gel Katharistiko (reviewed here). One of the best cleansers I have ever used!
6) *vbeauté Evidence Eraser (reviewed here). Wonderfully effective and so gentle.
7) Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser (review forthcoming). I really like this cleanser.
8) *Gold Sakura Facial Cleansing Foam Shirasu Line (reviewed here). Leaves you squeaky clean!
9) *Gold Sakura Hinoki Deitanseki Facial Cleansing Foam with Charcoal and Hinoki Oil (reviewed here). A lovely deep cleaning cleanser.
10) Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder (review forthcoming). Unquestionably the best of the best!
11) *Gold Sakura Beauty Bar Soap from the Hinoki Kurocha Line (reviewed here). Unique and lovely cleansing experience.
12) Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Soap (reviewed here). Tried and true. It has fine exfoliating granules that leaves your skin silky smooth!
While cleansing waters aren't cleansers in the traditional sense, they are nonetheless cleansers of sorts- and thus warranted inclusion.

13) Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water (reviewed here). An absolute staple, and my very favorite cleansing water of all time!
14) La Roche-Posay Solution Micellaire Physiologique (reviewed here). A very nice cleansing water.

  1. goodness lola you are cleanser hoarder! :) I adore cleansing products myself. My favorite is the Tatcha one. I am currently trying the Josie Maran one (not bad) and I also love my Shu Uemura one (excellent). I also have the Ko Ghen Do yet it didnt work well with my skin. It did cleanse but it made my skin feel oily and overall yucky. What is your favorite eye cream? Anything good with retinol to try?
    Great post!

    1. No kidding!! I'm so glad that you liked the post, wefadetogray! Tatcha is definitely one of my very favorites-- I'm CRAZY about that line! Interesting that the KGD didn't work well for you. Skincare certainly isn't a one size fits all proposition though! The eye cream that I am really loving right now is the B. Kamins Nia-Stem Eye Cream. It is very moisturizing- yet it remains light and sinks in quickly. I reviewed it here:

I also recently purchased Dr. Brandt Dark Circles Away Collagen Eye Serum- and though I just started using it I have been very impressed by the results. It also didn't hurt that I found it at Costco for $20.00 less than it sells for at Sephora! :)

My two recent retinol product purchases are:

Dr. Brandt Glow Overnight Resurfacing Serum with 2% Active Retinol-- and I really like it a lot. After I have used it a little longer I will review it, but so far I'm smitten!

The most interesting Retinol based product that I just started using is the Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic+Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum-- and so far I'm very pleased. I haven't used it long enough to review it, but it looks like a real winner at this point!

Do you have any new skincare finds that you are pleased with? :D

    2. you are a wealth of knowledge! I will try the retinol suggestions since my youth is slipping away daily.
New stuff? mmmmh I have tried a couple of new things: I like yet not adore SK-II wrinkle specialist mosturizing serum and the SK-II cellumination cream which I like a lot. I also tried nuxe nuxellence jeunesse but I cannot stand the smell :( it is really good tho, soft, smoothing, clarifying, just pretty! I am using my beloved Caudalie vinosource sos serum which although not new its always there to heal my nasty dry patches.
I tried yet did not like the glam glow exfoliating treatment. The smell is just like mandarin peels which I truly do not like not to mention the fact that it didnt do much for my skin :/
      xx

    3. Thank you, that is so nice of you to say :D I suspect that you can probably get samples of both of those retinol products-- I bought them at Sephora-- so you might want to see if you like them before spending the money. I almost always do that, but I had a gift card so I just went for it with both (and thankfully I don't regret the purchases).

I have heard good things about Nuxe Nuxellence Jeunesse, but have never actually seen or smelled it. Smell can be such a deal breaker for me-- if I don't like the smell it's just too hard to use it-- unless it is on my feet and under socks (assuming that the scent is no longer detectable).

I haven't tried any of the Caudalie serums-- I will have to one of these days. I actually bought the Glam Glow Mask, but still haven't tried it. I am far more daring with my purchases when I have a Gift Card!! Maybe I will try it tonight!

      xoxo

  4. I see that you participate in the great Barney's, etc. free sample promotions. I would love to see how you organize all those items.

    1. Hi there! I do participate in the Barneys Love Yourself Bag Event, and love it! Are you asking how I store all of the samples that I get from the gifts with purchase, or the products that I purchase in order to get the gifts with purchase? :-)

  5. I was wondering how you store and organize your samples that you get with the GWP events. I know I have a ton of them from various events and can never seem to remember them all or lay my hands on them when desired.

    1. Hi cpl100! Okay, I'm going to have to clean up the mess a touch and then I will shoot some pictures and do a post for you. It started out well organized, and then I swear to you the samples started breeding at night while I was sleeping. Now what was once rather orderly and tidy is frightening!!!!!!! I will make it a project and then post it as soon as I have it pulled together and presentable again! Thanks for the awesome request. :-)

  6. Sounds good. I had a fair grip on mine for a while. Then I guess I went into a buying frenzy and I am overwhelmed. Got my Space NK purchase yesterday and expecting my Barney's purchase to be shipped today. Lots more samples!

    1. Like you, I had a fair grip on mine for a while, but mine has truly descended into pure unmitigated chaos! After your comment I went to look at my drawer filled with samples, and I became so overwhelmed that I closed it and ran away. I also realized that my Space NK and Barneys gifts won't even fit! I will tell you one thing that I did was I separated out the skincare/body care products from the makeup samples. I found that this strategy made the whole undertaking of organizing all of this stuff much less daunting. However, I clearly have some organizing to do before fulfilling your wish to see how I store my samples since right now it wouldn't serve as any sort of inspiration!!!!!!!!! I hope that you love all of your Space NK and Barneys purchases and gifts! Have a fantastic weekend! :-)

    1. My pleasure!! Your By Request request is on the horizon-- you have motivated me to get that drawer organized! I don't think that it will be as impressive as it should be, but that's largely because there is just too much stuff to organize efficiently to my satisfaction! However, it will be infinitely better than it was before you made the request-- of that I am sure! :-)
