The Burberry Bender Continues...Lip Cover Signature Collection: Nude Beige, Dusty Rose & Tea Rose- Review and Swatches

While Nordstrom sold out of this mighty little Burberry Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick Signature Collection ($72.00) online, it is worth calling your local Nordstrom to see if they can track down one of the few remaining sets. It is a very worthwhile purchase, but in the event that you do not make the purchase you needn't grieve because all three of the glorious Lip Covers are part of Burberry's permanent range of products.
Burberry Lip Cover,  "adds a touch of radiance. The lightweight combination of nourishing oils and gel dispersed pigment ensures intense moisture and long lasting colour Burberry Lip Cover contains anti-aging ceramides for fuller lip definition. Apply like a normal lipstick or apply to the finger and press into the lips for a more effortless natural colour."

According to Burberry:

Discover supple and light colors that reflect the natural lip tones. Formulas are hydrating and give a full lip in tone, coverage and color fidelity.

Formula: Super-light 'second skin' texture provides intense moisture immediately after application. Combination of oils and light waxes helps easy application and extreme comfort.

Benefits: Pigments dispersed in a clear gelled structure ensure high color fidelity. Shiny polymers offer perfect luminosity. Balanced color palette from nude trench tones to Burberry reds.

Protection: Contains anti-aging ceramides for fuller lips. Guarantees continuous hydration. Contains UV filters to protect from damaging environmental exposure.
Nude Beige No. 1 is a gorgeous peachy nude.
Dusty Rose No. 10 is a muted rose with hints of a red and brown base.
Tea Rose No. 08 is a gorgeous mid-tone cool watermelonesque pink with shimmer.
I love Burberry's Lip Cover formula for so many reasons!! It offers opaque buildable coverage, but the colors can also easily be sheered out. They have a succulent sheen that tends to create the illusion of fuller lips- particularly so with the lighter shades. The texture is smooth, creamy, moisturizing, and particularly light and comfortable on the lips-- and with the perfect amount of cushion. I tend to get between 3-4 hours of wear-time with normal use, and a touch longer if I am not eating, drinking, or rubbing my lips together (when lip products feel particularly good I have difficulty resisting the experiential tactile experience). As with all Burberry lip products, the Lip Covers contain a quasi-floral fragrance- therefore try before you buy if you are sensitive to fragrance in your lip products.

The packaging is pure unmitigated luxury. There is a certain heft to the tube itself, and the automated magnetic swivel cap closure is a lovely novelty. However, I'm less compelled by the exterior, than I am by the stellar interior- because this is one fantastic lipstick formula!

Overall assessment: Fabulous formula and coverage. Gorgeous, elegant, and infinitely wearable colors. A staple in my makeup wardrobe. This is one of my very favorite lipstick formulas, and there are many more Lip Covers in my future!

I purchased mine at Nordstrom. (Affiliate link).

  1. Wow these colors look so beautiful swatched on your skin!!! I ended up returning the set - swatched I loved them, but once on my lips the colors looked terrible. Disappointed because as you said about the formula, it seemed REALLY nice!! But not to fret...LOL! I plan on finding colors in this formula that are much better suited for my pigmented lips!

    1. Wow, that's not at all what I expected to hear! The swatches were stunning on your arm-- I assumed that they would be stunning on your lips as well!!! There are definitely many for you to choose from so that you can enjoy the fabulous formula! My lips are probably far less pigmented than yours- since even Nude Beige shows up on me without me looking like a corpse!! Have a lovely weekend!!!!!!

    3. LOL-- I think that it is fair to say that those of us who have joined the ranks of the Burberry club have reached unthinkable levels of lunacy! MUAHAHAHA!!!

    1. Hi Replica!

It keeps throwing me as well- I just changed it this morning- so it will take a while to get used to the change. I decided to remove any visual distraction from the orange patterned background so that the pictures would really pop against the neutral background.

I also thought that Nude Beige would cause me to look like a corpse, but it is actually quite wearable. In fact, believe it or not it has turned out to be my favorite of the three! I find that I reach for it a great deal!

Sorry for being a Burberry Temptress-- but always remember that your Burberry reviews and swatches were instrumental in the creation of my Burberry lunacy!!!!!!!! :D xo

  3. I almost purchased this set, but found that nude beige made mr look like a corpse. It was not a good look. The sa tried to convince me to get a lip pencil to use with the nude beige to make it wearable, which actually annoyed me. If I don't like a color don't push it, especially since I was still planning on getting the other two! I ended up only getting the tea rose since she annoyed me so much.

    1. Now that's just ridiculous-- nothing kills trust in a SA quicker than when they are pushing you to buy something that you both know looks bad on you! And to have to purchase something else to make it wearable is absurd! I can see why you would have been irritated. Tea Rose is so lovely- I imagine that it is gorgeous on you!

    2. I thought the same thing, and I don't even wear lipliners and tried explaining this to her. But tea rose is really a wonderful color, I love wearing it. I can't wait to play with the two gift with purchase lipsticks! The colors seem just up my alley!

    3. Pushy SA are no fun to deal with- they can make you feel obligated to buy things that you don't want- which ultimately serves no one! Tea Rose really is gorgeous! The mini lipsticks are awesome- can't wait for you to get yours! :-)

  4. This set is sold out at my local Nordstrom, but the lip glow sets are still available. I happened to pick up a set this week, I am a happy camper. I love both their lipsticks and glosses!

    1. I'm betting that your SA could probably still track one down for you, if you want it. I'm so glad that you got the gloss set. I agree with you completely- I love their lipsticks and glosses as well! Such great formulas!
