Burberry Spring Makeup Collection 2013: SWATCHES OF THE WHOLE COLLECTION!!!!!!!!!!

Aware that so many of you are foaming at the mouth awaiting swatches for the Burberry Spring Collection, I decided to swatch the whole collection for you. Don't let the indoor lighting give you the impression that these products lack pigmentation. Try as I did, the display pictures did not show the true depth of these colors. All of the swatches, on the other hand, were taken outside! Enjoy!
Light Glow Blush in Hydrangea Pink No. 10, Light Glow Blush in Coral Pink No. 09, & Sheer Eye Shadow in Gold Pearl No. 26.
The two blushes are unbelievably saturated and beautifully pigmented colors! You will want to use a very light hand in applying them! My swatches were a bit more built up in order to show the potency of the pigmentation, but they could easily have been built up further. They also are capable of being sheered out a bit, but make no mistake these are very richly pigmented!

Gold Pearl is quite sheer, but it has a gorgeous ethereal quality to it. It has the most lovely otherwordly sparkle, and can even be used as a highlighter-- but do be advised that it is more glittery than most Burberry eye shadows.
Lip Glow in Fondant Pink No. 21, Lip Glow in Mallow Pink No. 19, Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea No. 20 (LE), & Lip Glow in Coral No. 22.
The pigmentation is extraordinary in the Lip Glows. They are buildable, but can also be sheered out, and the more saturated colors also leave behind a lovely stain.
 GORGEOUS!!!!!
You do not need to rush out and invest in the entire, well-edited, collection this very minute because everything is a part of the permanent range of products except the Pink Sweet Pea Lip Glow (which I suggest you snap up immediately if you think that you want it!).

I went to the Topanga Canyon Nordstrom to see the collection, and Jason (the Burberry Counter Manager and makeup artist extraordinaire) said that they had everything except Fondant Pink- which is backordered.

  1. LOVELY PICTURES! *FOAMING AT MOUTH*
I have already purchased just a few of these.... :^)
Mallow Pink and Coral Pink just may have been worn this week already!

    1. I know, isn't the collection just so stunning?!!!!!!!! I only picked up Pink Sweet Pea & ordered Fondant Pink. I almost bought both blushes because I couldn't decide which one that I wanted-- so I decided to wait and decide later since neither are limited edition! I'm actually leaning more toward the Coral Pink! Mallow Pink is gorgeous! :-)

  2. Great swatches, Helen! And THANK YOU, I've been waiting for someone to post swatches of Coral Pink!! :) It's decidedly less coral than I thought it would be but still will cross my fingers and go for it!! :D

    1. I'm glad that you liked them and found them helpful, Becca! Coral Pink is gorgeous, and a more easily wearable shade than Hydrangea Pink. Both work best with a light-handed approach because they are quite pigmented. Coral Pink is interesting because it appears to be a blue-based reddish pink, but in certain lighting a bit of coral pulls through. You are right though, it is decidedly less coral than I expected as well. It's really gorgeous!

  3. LOL @ your title !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

So which items did you end up getting? I'm dreaming a little dream of Hydrangea Pink and Mallow, but I'll have to see these guys in person first. :)

    1. I know, right?! That was my deranged excitement after having played with the whole collection. Hydrangea Pink and Mallow are ridiculously gorgeous, Liz. Both really fit in with the whole Bold Liz 2013 Palette!!! I would definitely suggest waiting and seeing them in person since neither of those shades are limited edition! SInce I didn't have the much dreaded "LE" to contend with- I decided to wait and mull over what I really want. I picked up Pink Sweet Pea and ordered Fondant Pink. I also picked up Glow and Midnight Purple e/s. I will probably get one of the blushes, but need to replenish the coffers after my last Burberry Binge (even though much of it was purchased with gift cards). I went to pick up your beloved baguette candles that you have been tormenting me with and Bath & Body Works was totally sold out :(

  4. Beautiful swatches :D I was really planning to get both blushes based on the press release picture but I can't justify getting both now. Thank you for the swatches!

    1. Hi Rachel, Thanks for stopping by!!! You are so welcome- I'm glad that the swatches are helpful to you! I definitely don't think that it is "necessary" to get both. While they aren't identical- they are similar enough that one is plenty. Coral Pink is definitely a more easily wearable color than Hydrangea Pink- which is a bit more of a commitment because it is so pigmented. Both can definitely be sheered out, but even then Hydrangea Pink still has a bit of a kick! They are both absolutely stunning!!

  5. Beautiful swatches! I can't decide between hydrangea pink and coral pink. Also, sweet pea and mallow pink... and maybe even fondant. Or maybe just all of them :D

    1. LOL!! Hydrangea Pink is definitely the more bold and blue based of the two-- though there are some similarities between the two blushes. Coral Pink is definitely more pink than coral, but you can definitely see some coral. Coral Pink is a more easily wearable shade- whereas Hydrangea Pink is definitely more of a statement color-- though both can be sheered out a bit. If you love Pink Sweet Pea- then I would prioritize it over the other colors since it is the only limited edition piece in the collection. Mallow is a gorgeous rich color, but since it isn't limited edition you can always pick it up. Fondant Pink is such a gorgeous baby pink-- I couldn't live without it-- so I ordered and am anxiously awaiting its arrival!!!!!!!! If there is anyway for you to get to a counter and see the collection in person, I would highly recommend it. You can't make a bad choice though- because the whole collection is gorgeous and beautifully edited! :D

    2. Thank you so much for your reply lola! I think I am going to get Sweet Pea right away, since I don't want to miss my chance!

    3. Hi Anda Bri!!! You are so welcome. I think that's a sensible approach-- there's no reason to panic about getting everything that you want since nothing else in the collection is limited edition. Pink Sweet Pea really is super gorgeous-- I think that you will really enjoy it! <3

  6. Swatches galore- thank you. Are you loving the gold pearl shadow- I am unsure?
On another sphere- do you have any idea when the new Tom Ford collection is arriving and what it looks like?
    xx

    1. You are so welcome, Makeup Remastered! I think that Gold Pearl is gorgeous, but I didn't buy it because I have enough colors that are similar enough that I saw no need in buying it. It is definitely more sparkly than Burberry eye shadows tend to be, but it is definitely gorgeous! If you need a color/finish like this- then it is worth getting. However, if you are like me and already have similar colors- then I would hold off until you have the need. That said, if you see it and have a powerful visceral reaction-- then you might want to just buy it.

It's funny that you should ask about the new Tom Ford collection. Right after I left the Burberry counter at Nordstrom I headed over to Neiman Marcus with the express purpose of checking out Tom Ford and to get some information about the new collection, but I was shocked to see that the Topanga location only had TM lipsticks and nail polishes-- so I was unable to get any information :( xo

    2. Thanks lola- one last question- the bright lip glows - are they a sheer wash on the lips or as bright and opaque as the swatches?
      Thanks

    3. My pleasure, Makeup Remastered! Ask as many questions as you want, and I will do my best to answer them. Of the bright lip glows- the only one that I have tried on my lips is Pink Sweet Pea, which is certainly the loudest and the brightest shades. I experimented with it a bit this morning and found that you can sheer it out so that your lips beneath the gloss show through, but the color remains quite bright and saturated even when applied in a sheer fashion. I also found that you can build it up to near total opacity, but not to the same extent that you would see in a liquid lipstick or hybrid lipstick/gloss formula. This is definitely a gloss, but with a very saturated color. Does that make sense? My swatches were very thick and built up in order to show the depth of the colors, but your wouldn't ever wear it that thick.

    4. Absolutely my pleasure. Let me know if you end up getting anything-- I would love to know if you love what you get! :-)

  9. The Lip Glows are gorgeous! I haven't used anything from Burberry yet and I think I am going to finally splurge on one of these spring beauties.

    1. I completely agree, Teri! I literally when nuts when I first saw them-- I was just blown away by the richly saturated colors-- it seemed so unBurberry, but is definitely a lovely modern take on the bright colors we are seeing! The only thing that you need to rush to buy is Pink Sweet Pea since it is the only limited edition item from the collection (that is assuming that was among the colors you were considering). Also if you have a sensitivity to fragrance in lip products you might want to check these out in person first- their lip products to contain lots of fragrance-- which is a total deal breaker for some--like our beloved Marcia!

  11. I'm really really hoping I see Burberry when I'm shopping Friday. I hope Fashion Island has it there. I love the look of these even though I won't be allowed to buy the fragranced items. Boo hoo.

    1. I hope that you can see the collection too! I just did a search on the Nordstrom Website and from what I can tell the Topanga Canyon & South Coast Plaza stores are the only two in the greater Los Angeles area. Though I find it difficult to imagine that there is nowhere in Newport Beach that has Burberry Beauty!! There is a Saks in Costa Mesa that should have Burberry- as well as the Saks in Beverly Hills. This is definitely a stunning collection. I know, I wish that they would eliminate the fragrance so that you could enjoy more than the eye shadows!!!!!!!

  12. Thank you for these, super helpful :) well I think the blushers are two strong for me so my sights are set on the eyeshadow and a gloss (perhaps two..) x

    1. Absolutely my pleasure, Replica! I'm so glad that the swatches are helpful to you!! The glosses are unbelievably beautiful. Yes, I imagine that the blushes are a bit outside of your comfort zone-- they are much more saturated than anything else that I have-- especially when you consider that Misty and Peony Pink represent my comfort zone!! The eye shadow is gorgeous, and it is actually considerably more sparkly than my swatches indicate. The color is gloriously beautiful, and it can even be used as a highlighter. xoxo

  13. I ordered Mallow Pink Lip Glow & Coral Pink Blush last week ever since these went up on the Nordies site & have been waiting super impatiently ever since :D :D I actually love the Coral lipgloss from your swatch too, but do you think it leans a bit more frosty irl?

    1. Lovely choices, Appu! I can't wait for you to get them! Please let me know what you think of them once you have had some time to play with them. Coral definitely contains pearl, but it's not a glitter bomb- it is really a lovely color and it sparkles and twinkles so beautifully in the sun.

      Delete
    2. Ah ok! All this sparkles and twinkles talk is making me wanna get it, except my wallet is crying in pain :D I'll let you know they are! Thanks so much...

    3. I haven't found it to leave behind migrating glitter that ends up everywhere- like some glitter-bomb lip glosses. It is more refined than that-- but my experience is based upon Pink Sweet Pea. My suggestion would be to see how happy you are with the two pieces that you purchased, and then if you are wild about them add the other pieces that you want when you want since they are part of the permanent line. That said, if Pink Sweet Pea is calling your name- then grab it since it is the only limited edition piece in the line. I can't wait to hear what you think about your purchases!!! :-)

      Delete
    4. yeah, I thought I should wait too. I can't make impulse purchases esp with Burberry! I wanted to pick up Pink Sweet Pea but not sure if its going to be very flattering on me, but again its LE...so maybe I should jut mix n match w something else :D :D

      Delete
    5. Hi Appu,
Honestly- if Pink Sweet Pea isn't a color that you think that you would wear, or if you question whether or not it would be flattering on you- then it probably isn't worth the splurge if it will likely just collect dust in a drawer. Don't let the lure of LE make you feel obligated to buy it-- especially when you are talking about luxury makeup! It's one thing if it is a Wet 'n' Wild lipstick or lip gloss for $2.00- it's another thing entirely when you are talking about something high end. If you don't think that you will really wear it- then skip it. If you have a Burberry Counter anywhere near you- then you might want to swatch it in person to make your final decision. :-)

    6. I knowww, the price point is the only problem. But then, I've never not liked anything Burberry. I was skeptical before buying the Lip Mist in Stormy Pink but I loved it after it arrived. I'm just going to wait for a while and then decide I guess :D :D Unfortunately, no Burberry counter nearby :(

    7. Godd, I've been spamming you with my comments, haven't I? sorry!!!

      Delete
    8. You aren't spamming me-- I totally enjoy "talking" with you! Price point is definitely a consideration. I agree with you- I have never been disappointed by anything from Burberry. It all comes down to whether or not a particular color will work for you if you already know that you like/love the formula! Stormy Pink is GORGEOUS!!!! It might be better on your wallet that you don't have a Burberry counter near by! :D

  15. *Falls over dead* Sweet Pea is gorgeous! To me, the blushes both look a little unassuming in the pan - but wowsers all of the swatches I've seen so far show fantastic pigmentation! I really wish I had a counter that I could go see the full line & play a bit. I think the closest one is Chicago - I'm in Kansas City : ( Thanks for the great swatches!

    1. Hi lov2read68! You are so welcome-- I'm glad that the swatches are useful to you! I know, isn't Pink Sweet Pea spectacular?! You are so right about how unassuming the two blushes are in the pan, and then you get this insane pigmentation and color pay off when swatched! It's too bad that there isn't a counter closer to you :-(
