Burberry Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea (LE) Spring 2013: Review & Swatches

There is no question that the Burberry Siren Red Spring 2013 Collection features beautifully rich saturated hues that might seem uncharacteristic of the Burberry's quintessentially tasteful neutrals, but it turns out that they are quite adept at bold perfectly on-trend colors as well. In fact, one might arguably suggest that their bold hues are as spectacular as their signature neutrals. I would suggest that Burberry has stepped into a whole new arena, and has done so with great style.

Pink Sweet Pea Lip Glow Natural Lip Gloss No. 20, which is one of four new Lip Glow shades, is the only limited edition piece from the collection. It is a gorgeous highly saturated fuchsia, with multi-colored pearl, that imparts the perfect amount of twinkle (not unfortunate migrating chunks of glitter). It can be sheered out or built up, and it does leave behind a bit of a stain. As saturated as it is, it remains a lip gloss rather than a liquid lipstick or a hybrid formula- in other words, it is not so opaque as to completely obscure the visibility of your lips below.
The formula is smooth and creamy, and not in the least bit sticky. I get about 2-3 hours of wear time out of this formula with normal use, but your wear-time may vary.
This Lip Glow, like the others, has a floral scent that isn't too powerful, and it does dissipate rather quickly upon application. That said, if you are sensitive to, or put off by, fragranced lip products you may find the scent intolerable. I most often dislike heavy fragrance in makeup, but for some reason I find myself enchanted by the Burberry scent. I would definitely suggest testing it first if you are concerned.

Overall assessment: Such a gorgeous shade! I love the formula and the color. This is a very wearable shade that I will reach for often. I would suggest getting it quickly if you think you want it since it is limited edition. Thankfully you can take all the time in the world to decide whether or not you want any of the other pieces from the collection.

$27.00 I picked mine up at Nordstrom.

  2. Wow, a stunning shade!!!! From your swatch, seems like it also has some red in it. Not sure how to incorporate it in my look book. But since it's a gloss I guess it's quite versatile.

    1. It is even more stunning in person!! That said, if it isn't a color that you will covet and use- then skip it and spend it elsewhere. It is versatile though as you said- because it is a gloss and not a vibrant and opaque lipstick with great intensity. Have a lovely weekend! <3

  3. This is so pretty. If only they didn't put that fragrance in. Or maybe I should be glad about that!

  5. Hi ;)
So pretty! I can't wait for your additional swatches on the Fondant pink once it arrives! I couldn't help but notice on your twitter feed your claim of RBR Solstice Halcyon is the PERFECT TAUPE! Haha...I was thinking of buying it today along with the newly released Eclipse Eagle, but was wondering how Solstice Halcyon compared to Burberry's Rosewood? Do you think they are different enough or is one better than the other?

    1. Hi Naomi!! I'm losing my mind waiting for Fondant Pink-- I'm not really sure what's going on with it. I got an email from Nordstrom stating that my order was "delayed" and as of yesterday if wasn't even listed on the Nordstrom website. The Burberry website said they were out of stock. I'm going to call to see if I can find out what's going on. OMG-- I love Solstice Halcyon!! I will swatch and post SH and Rosewood for you to see. They are similar, but swatched next to one another you can see some differences. As soon as I get enough light I will swatch and post them for you-- I will also add in Chantecaille Sel and anything else similar- maybe NARS 413 BLKR and Lhasa (today or tomorrow). They are both extraordinary quality- it would be hard to choose. Eclipse Eagle is definitely on my list as well!!!! xoxox

    1. I agree! The coral one is so gorgeous as well- and the multicolored pearl makes it all the more stunning! It is so unusual to see buying lip gloss!!! Leave it to Burberry to make one that you couldn't resist! Have a lovely weekend, Replica! <3

  11. That is SUCH a pretty colour. I was pleased when you mentioned that lip colour will still show through, as I think this would make it very wearable paired with neutral eyeshadows. Thanks for sharing such gorgeous pictures Helen :)
