Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Body Oil- Review

According to Rodin, Olio Lusso Luxury Body Oil is "The fabulous blend of essential oils that have given the original RODIN olio lusso its near-magical powers when smoothed onto the face have been rearranged as a heavenly veil to caress large expanses of skin that need quenching. The screw-cap deco-modern glass bottle is a visual delight that allows for easy, fuss-free application. Smooth onto damp skin directly after bathing or showering. Hint: apply while still in the shower, to help trap surface moisture on the skin before it evaporates. Start at the collarbone; work your way down to the ankles and toes, concentrating on dry areas such as upper arms and elbows, hips, derriere, legs, knees, and feet."

Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Body Oil is a gloriously rich and moisturizing oil that deeply nourishes and hydrates even the driest of skin. I apply it sparingly right out of the shower, as suggested, while my skin is still warm and it soaks in quickly leaving my skin unbelievably soft and supple. It has the same intoxicating scent as the Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil (reviewed here), but instead of Jasmine Oil as the first ingredient it lists Jojoba seed oil at the top of the list. It has the perfect consistency for a body oil, and in fact is so moisturizing that I have been carrying a vial in my purse and using it in lieu of a hand cream, and I actually really prefer using it over my other hand creams. During the colder months I like to add extra moisture to my skin- therefore adding a few drops of this to my body lotion (after having applied Olio Lusso alone) gives my skin a velvety smooth texture that is unbelievably soft and supple. You will be shocked by how soft your freshly shaved legs feel after using this-- it really leaves your skin baby's bottom soft.

This luxurious golden elixir gives my skin the very same gorgeous glow that I eagerly anticipate every time that I use the Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil, and that alone makes this an amazing product to use. Additionally, the intoxicating scent of the body oil has the same pleasant and calming effect found in the face oil, but thankfully it seems to linger a bit longer.  This oil really is pure magic!
The bottle itself is a gorgeous minimalist Deco-inspired shape with beautifully beveled edges, and a straightforward screw top white lid. It is so aesthetically pleasing and functional that I will definitely reuse it for something else after it's empty, rather than recycling it.

Overall assessment: The best of the best! This is a definite must-have Holy Grail body product for me. It is so concentrated that I imagine this bottle lasting me between 8 and 12 months. I will definitely be repurchasing it since it has definitely become my very favorite body oil. I cannot imagine anyone not loving this body oil-- unless you don't care for the smell of Jasmine.

$110.00 for 4 oz. Available from B-Glowing, Dermstore (Affiliate Links).

  1. This sounds simply delectable and it's amazing you love it so much that you are using it instead of hand lotion!!! I'd love to splurge someday...until then you have given me a great idea...since the Ladi Avokanto wasn't a slam dunk like I was hoping *insert sigh* I'm going to add it to my CeraVe to increase it's body lotion powers!! Hope it works :-)

    1. It's insanely good, Gummy!! That's a great idea for your Ladi Oil-- in fact the Sponge Rep said she adds it to her body lotion and face lotion as well. I'm so sorry to hear that your skin became reactive to it!! I think that with your reactive skin that you are probably better off sticking with tried and true loves. :-)

I was wondering if you have ever tried the Rouge Bunny Rouge Seraphic Veil Anti-Aging Moisturizer? It looks really interesting, and beautyhabit is having that little gwp so thought I'd pick up a few things :-)

    2. Ok, decided to put the moisturizer on the back burner, but did get the Rodin lip balm and the In Fiore Veloutee balm for lips and eyes (guess I'm on a balm kick!!), and some twisty bands (love them!!). I asked if they would be able to give me a sample of the Rodin body oil and they emailed back and said no problem!! Yay :-)

  5. this sounds heavenly. I was wondering if you think this will work well for stretch marks. I am on a strict candida diet and I fear what will happen to my skin. I was thinking about buying the Clarins body treatment oil. What do you recommend?

    1. Hi wefadetogray!

Thanks for stopping by! It really is heavenly. This oil leaves my skin so soft and supple, and my guess is that it would keep your skin so soft and supple that it could help with stretch marks. I don't know whether it has any properties that will specifically treat stretch marks, but you might send an email directly to Rodin to see what they say. One of my friends sent them an email asking a question and Linda Rodin herself responded to her inquiry! My bigger concern would be checking whether any of the ingredients in this or any other product would not in anyway encourage the fungal growth associated with Candida Albicans. I think that I would bring the list of ingredients of all products that you are considering using to your doctor to check. I am always super careful of things like this and routinely show my doctor ingredients to ask about their safety or efficacy (or email them to her)- I just don't think that one can be too careful. I don't remember having tried the Clarins body treatment oil-- so I can't compare them. However, I am absolutely over the moon about the Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Body Oil! It is quite expensive, but I have never found a body oil that I loved this much.

  6. Dear Lola, I just posted a message but do not know what happened to it so please excuse me if you get two messages from me. I was wondering if you would suggest this body oil for stretch marks. How does it compare to the Clarins body oil treatment? I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. I am doing the candida diet and I fear for my skin which I have already put to misery for decades.

    1. Hi wefadetogray,

What are you specifically concerned about with respect to your skin? Is it the effects of the Candida diet on your skin?

  7. Dear Lola,
Thanks for your replies. My stretch marks are my biggest concern as well as any other effect the diet my have on my skin; since it is so restrictive I want to be able to provide my body with as much help as possible to endure it. The candida cleansing I am doing is internal (phase 1 right now, terrible. I am starving!!) but it is very strict and I fear I may loose weight and create even more loose, flabby skin covered in stretch marks. I believe that as long as there are not starches in my body creams/oils the rest should be fine. Sorry for confusing you; I am not a native speaker of English :)

    1. Hi wefadetogray,

Your English is flawless- I just wanted to clarify the main source of your concern. If none of the ingredients in this oil are on your "do not use" list- then I think that you will find that it does wonders to keep your skin soft, supple and very moisturized. I don't know that it will do anything to get rid of existing stretch marks, but I imagine that it could help out in the event that future stretch marks form. You might look into which products are used by pregnant women for stretch marks-- I know that cocoa butter is often used, and something like that might really be helpful- just as long as the ingredients won't interfere with your Candida. Please keep me posted! I hope that I was somewhat helpful! Have a lovely weekend!

  8. Thanks Lola! I made up my mind and I will order both the Rodin olio Lusso body oil and the Ko Denmark one. I read the pregnant women use the Clarins oil, hence, my question. I love your blog! Thanks again for your wealth of knowledge and for sharing it with us :)
I will keep you posted regarding the future of my skin
    Have a great weekend,
    xx

    1. My pleasure!! I think that you will LOVE the Rodin Olio Lusso Body Oil-- it is by far my favorite body oil. You will be surprised by just how amazing it makes your skin feel. If you apply it to your skin when your skin is still slightly damp after the shower or bath you will be able to use far less product (making that expensive bottle last much longer). I am curious to hear your thoughts on the Ko Denmark Jasmine Neroli Body Oil-- I have never tried it before, and as you know I am a huge fan of oils! I'm so happy that you love my blog-- you just made my whole weekend by saying that! I really can't wait to hear your thoughts on both of the oils that you ordered. You might also consider layering a rich moisturizing cream on top of the oil to keep your skin as moist as possible-- I think that may help as well. Have a lovely weekend! Chat soon, Helen

  9. Dear Lola,
I appreciate your thorough review of Rodin's face and body oils! I am trying to simplify my beauty products and would rather have just one oil I could use on face and body than have one for each. I sampled the Rodin face oil and loved it, but I wonder if it might be a better deal to get the body oil if it does the same thing. Do you think the Rodin body oil would work just as well on the face? Jojoba is the main oil, and from what I can tell, shouldn't irritate.
    Thanks for your thoughts!

    1. Hi there! Thank you so much for your very very kind words. I am glad that you found those reviews helpful! I can completely understand your desire to simplify your routine. Isn't the Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face OIl simply amazing?! I will NEVER be without it. It is singlehandedly responsible for healing my little dry patches-- and no other oil was able to do that for me-- so as a result I am forever loyal!

It's funny, on the day that I was buying Olio Lusso I asked my friend who works at Barneys if I could just buy the body oil and use it from head to toe, rather than incurring the added expense of buying both. She said that I was of course free to do so, but that there was a definite difference between them and that the much higher concentration of Jasmine oil in the face oil (since it is the first ingredient whereas Jojoba is the first ingredient in the body oil). I tried both, and I find that the face oil is richer and more nourishing for my face. If I were you, I would probably get another sample of each and compare how they work on your face. You will only know whether the body oil irritates your face by trying it, but for me there is no comparison between the two on my face. That said, these are not inexpensive products, and if you find little difference between the two with respect to the results that you get- then by all means get the big bottle which will help you consolidate, and will do double duty. I am just personally devoted to the face oil, and I different see a difference between the two. Keep me posted-- I want to hear your thoughts!
