Kai Body Butter- A Worthy Obsession! Review

Truth be told, this is one of those types of reviews that can ostensibly write itself. Kai Body Butter is such a fantastic product, and I have wanted it from the first moment that I became aware of it. My sister was given the entire range of Kai products as a gift- so I would look for any excuse to go into her bathroom and bathe myself in her ridiculously large stash!! I mean, come on- she even has all of their candles!! Nice gift, don't you think?! I had been sitting on my Barneys gift certificate that my husband gave me for my birthday back in February, but on my last Barneys trip I decided that I had to finally break down and get a few more things from Kai.
Kai describes it as "a silky whipped soufflé with a moisturizing shea butter base blended with safflower seed oil, vitamins A, C, and E, aloe leaf extract, chamomile flower extract, cucumber fruit extract and apricot kernel oil. fragranced with the original kai perfume oil." It is so rich, luscious and moisturizing that you may never want to use another body butter, or moisturizer for that matter- ever again! It is scented with kai's signature "light and intoxicating blend of gardenia wrapped in white exotics...." I kid you not when I tell you that it is a real head-turner- once people catch a little sniff- they are compelled to ask you what you are wearing. I know that I should probably branch out and wear some of my other perfumes, but right now I have a serious Love Jones for everything Kai! I might add that it is also the perfect light floral for the summer season! I tend to layer this with my Kai Perfume Oil (reviewed here) and my Kai Deodorant (reviewed here), and the result is a treat for the senses that lasts throughout the day.
Overall assessment: Come on, seriously do I need to spell out how irrationally and insanely that I am in love with all things Kai?! It is also paraben, sulfate, phthalate and phosphate free. Additionally it is cruelty free and is housed in recyclable packaging. This body butter is a pure slice of heaven-- it titilates the senses and deeply moisturizes the skin-- what's not to love. I will most certainly be replacing this once I have made my way down to the bottom of this jar! Made in the USA

$52.00 6.4 oz. Available at Nordstrom & Barneys New York. (Affiliate links)

    2. WHAT?!? Omg, you had me at gardenia. I am OBSESSED with white florals, and this sounds absolutely amazing! I missed your reviews on the perfume oil and deodorant too, but I just caught up and I am thinking that I need to grab both of them ASAP. I've been looking for a good deodorant for a few weeks, too--so this sounds perfect! Thanks Lola! :D

    3. It's a really magical scent, Becca!! Though I would definitely recommend trying it first before committing to it to make sure that the smell and your body chemistry get along. OMG the deodorant is fantastic, and the smell is just fantastic. What's more- I have sensitive armpits (hate that word) and lots of deodorants irritate me, but not this one!!!!!!! I also have the Kai Body Buffer- which is a nice scrubby sponge infused with a Kai scented body wash-- it makes the entire bathroom smell fantastic for a few hours after use. I', also obsessed with white florals and gardenia and so far this is by far my favorite one! xx!

    4. oh me too--don't worry. The reason why I've been searching for a deodorant was because after many years of using my drugstore anti-perspirants, I noticed that I was started to break out into these weird itchy rashes on my underarms (gross, I know) and was getting a lot of ingrown hairs (TMI yet?! :P) so deodorant it is for me!

    5. Not TMI-- I have had the same issues in the past. I actually stopped using drugstore brands heavy in chemicals a long time ago because those chemicals freak me out-- and I worry about their effects on breast tissue- I would rather wear something a little more natural and not be worried about increasing my chances of breast cancer. Plus I have had too many underarm rashes from ingredients that I was allergic to in deodorants-- so I try to minimize the number of ingredients and look for options that are a bit healthier. This one smells delicious!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Does Barney's roll out a red carpet for you? You always buy the best things there.

    1. Pretty close- LOL!! I have forged some pretty amazing friendships there! They joke that Barneys is like Cheers for me (where everybody knows your name)--LOL!! I'm so in love with that store, but always joke that I can't afford to shop anywhere above the 1st floor- except the restaurant!! I'm particularly fond of the Apothecary section nicely tucked into the back of the store-- they have such fantastic niche brands and all sorts of pleasant surprises to be discovered! I just wish that my pockets were deeper-- then I could shop there guilt-free!!!!!!!

  6. I wanted to love Kai but didn't - but that was about six years ago and I haven't seen a Kai product around here since. I love body butters in general. Makes me want to just stick my whole face into the tub. :)

    1. Kai definitely isn't for everyone-- no question. It works really well with my body chemistry and I find myself sniffing my arm all day long when I wear it. I agree about body butters in general-- this is one of the greatest inventions ever!!

  7. Okay, so this may sound a little kooky, but I love the name Kai because I had a very special dog named Kai :)
This cream looks so luxuious, nothing like slathering on pure luxury!

    1. That doesn't sound even a little bit kooky to me, Victoria. I love the name Kai, and having the association with your much beloved dog makes the name all the more magical, and imbued with great memories! I love that!!!!! <3 This cream is quite luxurious-- and slathering it on is ridiculously decadent and sublime!!! Thanks for stopping by! xx
