My Prime Skincare- A New Luxury Line that I am SO Excited About! Overview & Initial Assessment

As you are surely aware, I am quite the skincare junkie, and new luxury lines that employ cutting edge technology and high quality ingredients always get my attention! That said, I also heavily scrutinize a product before I am willing to subject my skin to a change in routine. After carefully researching My, I was so intrigued that I threw caution to the wind and decided to try out this new skincare line.

About My:
My Prime Anti-Aging Formulas combine pure Asian botanicals with advanced skincare science.
We are proud to introduce our debut collection of premium anti-aging essentials. In keeping with the highest standards for beauty formulas, all of our products are enclosed in unique airless packaging, which protects our ingredients from external contaminants while dispensing the perfect dose up until the last drop. We invite you to make My yours, and journey to a better you. (source)

One of the great secrets to this luxurious skincare line can be found in the use of Pili and Moringa Oils that function as the "cornerstone of select My Prime Anti-Aging Formulas. Rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids, these extraordinary botanical oils have historically been used by Filipino women to achieve healthy, ageless skin." To read more about Pili and Moringa oils click here. I will go into far greater detail about the specifics of the line when I review each product individually, but will do so after I have used the line for a while.

I have only just started trying out this line, but so far I am thoroughly impressed by the outstanding quality of the products.  In the next couple of days I am going to begin using My exclusively, and once I have had enough time to assess the line in depth I will begin the task of reviewing each product individually. I will say, however, that my first impressions are that this is a fantastic line!

My's founder and CEO, Tessa Yutadco, has implemented social responsibility initiatives that were specifically designed to improve the lives of the Filipino women and men who harvest and extract the Pili and Moringa oils used in My products (read more here). It is also important to note that the Pili and Moringa oils are sustainably harvested, and are grown without fertilizers or pesticides. Unlike so many skincare companies, My is uncompromising in the commitment to quality ingredients, healthy products, social responsibility, and transparency in everything they do. It is for these reasons, coupled with the sheer quality of the products, that I am so excited to have found My! Did I mention that My is CRUELTY FREE?! So far, I'm in love! Stay tuned!

    1. Tessa, the lovely founder and CEO of My, actually sought me out! I'm very excited about this line! I'm going to start using everything tomorrow morning and then will post individual reviews once I have used it long enough to see results, and to determine how my skin responds. I haven't been this excited about trying out a new skincare line since Sunday Riley!

One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.

    1. Absolutely true, and just so important not to forget. Sunscreen and protective clothing is definitely an important factor as well!

  7. Lola, are you ever scared that your skin will freak out in response to trying new skin care products? I recently took some medication that caused me to break out in a facial rash that lasted for 5 days. It had such a negative affect on how I felt about myself. I've since become very wary about using any of my sample face creams and serums.

    1. Well, yes- sometimes. I usually rotate in a new product here or there to see how it works without disturbing my entire routine too much. That way I can really identify the offenders pretty quickly if i have a reaction. I have had some pretty bad reactions to new things before as well. Your recent experience sounds as though it was really awful!! :-(

I often try out new things on my neck to see if I will react-- at least it's a little less unsightly than the face. I find the things that cause me the most problems are eye creams that are too rich and give me milia and creams that are too rich for my combination skin that break me out-- so I'm pretty careful to avoid them. Also sometimes products with too many botanical extracts will cause my skin to react.

In the case of My, I was so taken by the story and Tessa's journey as well as the unbelievable ethical underpinnings of this company that I decided to try the entire line at once. I figure that way I can really experience how the line works and be able to evaluate and review it more conclusively. I always remain open to new high quality skincare lines that are really doing something new, that are technologically advanced, and who utilize healthy ingredients. So while it's always a little scary trying something new because you never know how your skin will react- I am periodically willing to mix things up a bit knowing that I may have discovered some real gems. So far, my skin looks and feels great using My!

  8. I'm starting to amp my "anti-aging" skincare now that I'm 2 yrs away from 4-0. The only concern I have is I haven't really found a 2-in-one product that fits my skin dilemma. Extremely oily skin and at the same time early prevention of unsightly fine lines. Ha! Women problem, it never stops :-))

    1. Hey Kath! I know what you mean. It's tough to find good anti-aging products that are effective without being too rich for combination, oily, and very oily skin types. My skin is combination with a pretty active T-zone, and more often than not- richer products break me out like I was 13! A 2-in-one product seems to be even trickier. For me, I have generally found that I have had to do a serum and a separate lotion/cream because many of the anti-aging creams have been way too rich for me. I have had great success with Sunday Riley products, but the serums are very expensive. SO far I am very happy with My, but haven't been using it nearly long enough to see how it will ultimately work on my skin. However, it is looking very good so far, and the products are lovely and very high quality! xx

    1. Hi Tina, So far I'm really loving the line. Since you are the most curious about the mattifying moisturizer- I will review it first. I will use the line for about a month before I start reviewing it- that way I will have used it for an adequate amount of time to get a real sense of how it works. I hope that you had a lovely weekend!

  10. This is good to know. I have tried everything from Burts Bees but way to oily. I’ve tried every product too at whole foods almost. I do the at home facial with the Riiviva Microdermabrasion tool for my acne scarring and it’s terrific. Do you have any recommendations as to what avenue to take for moisturizing without all the oily residue that happens when I use oils. Thanks

    1. Hi Terressa,

I know just what you mean-- I feel as though I have tried everything as well. I think that it all depends on what type of products that you like. Since you are doing at home microdermabrasion I would think that you would want to be using products that are super gentle and without any harsh exfoliants or retinoids in them. As I understand it, over working the skin with too many physical or chemical exfoliants can lead to thinning the skin, and then a whole host of problems. I would think that something rich in anti-oxidants would be good, but are you looking for oils that absorb quickly or lotions? :-) Lola
