Le Métier de Beauté Color Core Moisture Stain Lipstick - Palm Springs Review & Swatches

In my recent whirlwind introduction into the world of Le Métier de Beauté, I decided on what to buy while on the phone talking to the celebrated LMdB National Makeup Artist, Erin Lockard who was texting me swatches as we spoke on the phone. I described the colors that I loved and wore, and this supremely gifted artist picked the perfect assortment of colors for me, I mean the perfect colors for me!! Among the lipstick colors that Erin selected was Palm Springs- which is part of the Color Core Moisture Stain Lipstick range.
Le Métier de Beauté describes their Color Core Moisture Stain Lipstick range as, " A unique combination of vibrant color lip stain and healthful moisturizer in one. Creates that coveted “just-bitten” natural flush of a lip-stain, while the unique emollient-rich, hydrating, moisture-stain formula delivers essential replenishment and voluptuous full coverage color to lips. It’s non-cracking and long-wearing, with the lasting power of color stain, and won’t bleed or feather into fine lines around the lips. Lip-loving moisturizers include jojoba, lanolin and shea butter to keep lips soft and supple—for a velvety lip texture, with a silky finish." I really couldn't have described it better myself.
Palm Springs is a gorgeous light blue-based pink with just the faintest tinge of a mauvey purple hue at the base. What makes it really sparkle is that it includes a very subtle golden shimmer that really gives the lips a gorgeous complexity, and an unmistakable glow. The coverage is opaque with an understated frost finish, but it is subtle and elegant thereby befitting a pink-loving adult instead of a 9th grader (though this would be beautiful on a makeup-loving teenager as well).

In keeping with the subtlety found in this formula, it sits rather quietly on the lips without lots of flash and fanfare, and it imparts a healthy glow rather than a less-than-subtle shine. The formula is long-lasting and moisturizing, and it has the requisite amount of cushion that makes it irresistibly comfortable on the lips. There is a certain updated 1960s kittenish pink aspect to Palm Springs that makes me want to wear a pronounced winged black liner with this gorgeous shade. While that combination is immensely flattering, it should be noted that this color is very versatile and is just as happy with a smokey eye, or no makeup at all!

The packaging itself is a very modern and chic ribbed lipstick tube that is rubberized much like the packaging from NARS. It is easily gripped and feels very comfortable in the hand, and as nice as it is-- the real star is what's inside the tube.
I did have a malfunction with this particular tube- in that the lid was a little too snug, and when I opened it my lipstick, which must have been loose to begin with, shot out of the tube like a cannonball and made a bit of a mess when it landed on my desk. This explains why the lipstick looks a little worse for wear in my close-up pictures.
Overall assessment: A fantastic formula and the color offers the perfect pink pout! Erin definitely picked the perfect pink for me!

  2. Love this color and have even bought it as a gift for friends! It is so subtly pretty and the formula is definitely unique. I also like Miami and like to think of it as Palm Spring's paler little sister ; )

    Take care,

    1. I completely agree. It's what SR Shakespeare should have been! I can certainly see how you would love it and even give it as a gift!! I'm going to have to go check out Miami now!! LOL xxoo

  3. Very pretty. I've not found a shade I love so far though, the ones I have are really colour intense, a bit too much for meek little me :) x

    1. It really is. This one is pretty pale, and it's definitely not too intense. I would think that this one would be lovely with your cool pale complexion. It is worth swatching-- if there are no counters in the UK--I'm sure that you could get them to make you a sample on your next Zuneta order. You are hardly meek! xxoo

  4. I love this kind of color. I've reviewed other shades from the collection but Lisa got Palm Spring to review.
If you ever have the chance to work with Erin in person you must do it. She's not only a great artist but she's stunning!

    1. Me too, Marcia!! This one is particularly beautiful, and it take s the sting out of having SR Shakespeare go bad. This is actually even prettier! I'm surprised that you don't have this shade in your stash-- it's such a "you" shade in all of its pink magnificence. Erin is so lovely-- I had so much fun with her on the phone. She actually emailed me after she saw this review. She said that she wanted to meet soon. She's just so lovely and genuine! Can't wait!

  5. Another beautiful lipstick and wonderful review, Lola! I like this sound of this formula--I don't often wear lipstick, but if I do it HAS to be moisturizing. I can always sheer it out with my finger if it's a little too opaque for me...

    1. Thanks, Becca! You are too kind. It is a real stunner of a lipstick-- I know that you are partial to glosses, but I think that it would be worth it for you to swing by a LMdB counter and swatch this shade to see if you like it. It definitely sheers out. I would look before buying to make sure that it really satisfies your criteria. Their lip glosses and lip cremes are also drool worthy. I will be reviewing them shortly!

  6. It looks lovely. This post made me realize while I own a lot of LMDB, I don't own a lipstick from them--lots of glosses but no lipstick. I need to remedy that ASAP!

    1. Their glosses are just divine, aren't they?! I think that you would like this shade, and the formula for that matter. I haven't worked my way into their eye shadows yet, but fear what will happen once I do!! I can't wait to read your reviews of their lipsticks-- because I suspect that your stash will definitely be growing!!! Thanks for stopping by! :-)

  10. Such a pretty pink! I like the packaging, too. We don't have LMdB in Canada!

    1. It is a really lovely pink, Liz. I'm sort of surprised that LMdB isn't in Canada-- I think that people in Canada are ordering from Zuneta, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom then. It is so much better being able to see things in person though-- that has been the frustration with ordering Rouge Bunny Rouge-- you just have to take a leap of faith that the swatches online will look like the product, and on your skin!! LMdB needs to be in Canada!!!!!
