Rouge Bunny Rouge Hues of Enchantment Colour Burst Lipstick in Nothing Unknown 009- Review & Swatches

Rouge Bunny Rouge Hues Of Enchantment Colour Burst Lipstick is a magical formula with compelling fairytale beginnings: The fiercely beautiful royal dragonflies from the Enchanted Garden inspired us to concoct this glorious beam of a lipstick for you. Their buzzing intensity has been poured into the most vividly delectable hues imaginable, to make your lips appear instantly fuller, and bewitchingly luminous. There are enough shades to satisfy even your strongest colour cravings. The exact texture for every one of these wearable, yet intensely powerful and pigment-dense shades has been carefully chosen so that each can have its most fitting expression. Whichever you choose, you’ll be sure to stand out like a bird of paradise amongst a field of sparrows. Go ahead and cast a boldly magical spell! The easy glide, hydrating formula ensures superb comfort and softness. Enriched with Vitamin E, to nourish and protect from dryness and aging. With three separate formulas, depending on the texture, coverage and finish, all are suffused with botanical extracts such as Orchid Flower extract, Meadowfoam, Manoi Butter or Inca Inchi oil.

Nothing Unknown is a bestselling cool nude-beige base with an ash-mauve opalescence, and RBR says every woman should have this in her lipstick wardrobe. I'm not generally a believer in universally flattering shades, but this cool nude-beige pink is a gorgeous light and sheer shade- therefore it might work across skin tones despite the fact that it is cool-leaning. I find it to be somewhat buildable, but since it is a pale shade a heavier application will not render intensity, but instead a bit more opacity.
There is something so special about this shade and formula. First, it is refreshing to have a nude-leaning lipstick that has cool-toned people in mind (like me)- most nudes tend to favor the warm-toned people, and therefore tend to wash the rest of us out. Second, this is a lovely iridescent pink, but it is refined therefore it's not a glitter-bomb in the least bit. Instead the gorgeous little light reflecting particles magically capture the light and dance around on your lips with celebratory splendor. Finally, this is a GORGEOUS comfortable wearing lipstick that feels more like a lip balm, but performs like a lipstick.
Some tricks of the trade from Rouge Bunny Rouge:
  • To acquire full lips place a lighter version of a lipstick or gloss in the middle of your lips and smudge a little bit to the outer line. The reflection gives your lips a 3-D effect.
  • To make your lips look fuller, use a lip pencil first, just on the outer edge of your natural lip line. Fill in with lipstick. Draw a very fine line of our 'Sea of Clouds' Highlighting Liquid on the top of your cupid's bow. Finally, apply a little gloss in a lighter or opalescent shade in the centre of both upper and lower lips.
  • To make lipstick last longer, apply our Long-lasting Lip Pencil to the entire lip area, allow to dry for 10 seconds and then apply the lipstick or gloss of your choice.

    1. Hi Pang, The Wallflower!

Thanks! This is such a great lipstick-- in fact I love it so much that while swatching it I thought of how sad it was to be wasting such an amazing lipstick by putting it on my arm!!!!!!! You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this color and formula! Now I want more shades-- and some from the Succulence of Dew range as well! Let me know what you think of it when you get it! L

    1. It really is spectacular-- especially for the pale cool types- like us! It really is a unique take on nude. I really am of the opinion that RBR can do no wrong!

  3. My favorite is Scrumptiously Delicious. I have Nothing Unknown but it's not the best for my coloring unless I wear a gloss over it.

    1. Scrumptiously Delicious is on my list! I'm surprised that Nothing Unknown isn't spectacular for your coloring! I love the texture so much. I definitely want to get a few of the Succulence of Dew lipsticks as well.

  4. What a beautiful shade. I always want to try nudes, but light colors don't suit me. Still, I will probably end up trying this one day.

    1. It is really gorgeous! That said, if nudes and light colors don't suit you I would pass on this one. It's a bit like Royallieu-- so if you are happy with than one you will likely be happy with this one-- particularly if you think of it like a lip balm with a little pigment.

    2. I love how Royallieu looks in the tube, but I haven't tried it on yet! I've been waiting to get through this deadline so I can take pictures of my newest stuff. The "picture-taking area" is a total disaster area. E.g., the kitchen table!

    3. Royallieu is FABULOUS in the tube, and as you know I love it on as well. I suspect that you might end up treating it like a lip balm and leaving it in your pocket (since it's not nearly as pigmented as your regular lipsticks). I totally understand why you haven't tried it out yet. I have things that I still need to shoot-- sometimes I get so backlogged-- I still have tons of images that I need to edit and watermark from a while ago! Can't make it feel too much like "work" or it defeats the purpose of this whole endeavor! Oh please-- I understand the difficulties of "the picture taking area" only too well. Mine is a coffee table in my office that has been co-opted by Jasper. I made the mistake of putting a throw on it while cleaning, and he thought that was the nicest thing that i could have done-- he just purrs and purrs until he falls asleep. Now I don't have a "studio."

    4. Any flat surface in this house is fair game for cats, especially if it involves textiles.

I got a brief reprieve from my deadline (it was a fake one, and there's nothing I hate worse than psych games), so tomorrow I am sending Mr. Petals into the woods to shoot moose (with his camera, of course), and I hope to take all the pictures I need so I can start wearing my pretty new things. :)

I suspect Royallieu will be like lip balm, as well, but what a beautiful balm it will be. It reminds me a little of my first lipstick ever: Clinique Crystal Mauve, which was shiny, icy-lavender, and sheer.

    5. Here too, Zeus even climbs to the top of a 7-8ft tall bookcase and perches there like a bird. He then walks over to the bedroom door and hangs off of the top of it like a monkey and gives you a really weird look as you walk by. I really should try to get him into commercials or something-- because he would surely become the primary bread-winner in this family! :-)

Fake deadline or not- it's nice that you got a little reprieve from the insanity of your work schedule lately! Well- it's a good thing that it was with his camera- if not your bedroom decor might have gone a lot more butch, and a lot further away from white down bedding!!! I imagine that Mr. P is loving his camera-- have you tried it out at all yet? I'm dying to see all of your new pictures!

Yes, a beautiful lip balm indeed! I REMEMBER Crystal Mauve!!!!!!!!! I really think that you will enjoy Royallieu!

    7. Wow, such self-restraint! I figured that since Mr. P has had his camera for a little while now that you would have tried it out. I can only imagine how gorgeous his shots are of the oriole! You should post a picture!!

I can't wait for your pictures!!!!!
