MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish from The Reel Sexy Collection

MAC describes Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish, from the Reel Sexy Collection, as a "soft candelit beige with multi-dimensional shimmer." They suggest that it is: a luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face. I don't always love all of MAC's Mineralize Skinfinishes-- I find many of them end up looking too frosty and unnatural on me-- with larger bits of glittery shimmery particles than I like to wear in a highlighting type of product. With that said, I am over the moon about Lightscapade. It is a gorgeous light cool pinky beige that is super finely milled and silky smooth. It applies like butter, and it offers the most beautiful sheen imaginable. The last MAC powder that had me this excited was undoubtedly Play It Proper Beauty Powder from the Chen Man Collection (reviewed here). I find this to be absolutely stunning on cool pale skin- though I do think that warmer skin tones could probably wear it as well since there is enough beige to balance out some of the cooler pink tones. It is quite light so I think that people with medium to dark complexions may not find it as flattering as an all-over highlighting powder, but applied with a very light hand it may prove to be quite flattering. I find that it offers an enchanting ethereal glow that does not look unnatural or harshly metallic. I honestly did not expect to like it that much- let alone love it, but I do. It is still available, though it is limited edition. However, this has been repromoted several times, and it is a popular shade- so if you miss out on it this time I wouldn't bother paying over retail for it on eBay because it is likely to be repromoted again.
Overall assessment: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish is a hit and miss product for me, but I have to say Lightscapade is a total hit! I love this one!

  1. This has always been my favourite MSF. I had it from the original launch years back and was devastated when I ran out. I'm glad to see that they brought it back. Super-pretty.

    1. I totally agree with you, Kate! I think it is their very finest MSF, by a long shot. As I understand the original ones are better than the many reprobates-- mine is actually from the last release, but it is still fantastic! They are still available, if you want it again! it is super-pretty!

  2. I look at mine a lot. I have the original one and was afraid I'd use it up. I need to get over feelings like that though.

    1. Use it up!! You can get a backup since they are still around! I know just what you mean-- I suffer from the same affliction! I have been reticent use my Chanel Joues Contraste in Narcisse (US version) for the very same reason- even though I have a Euro backup. I'm trying to let go of the need to preserve those things forever, and instead use and enjoy them!

    1. Hi yessie, I agree- this one is really stunning! If you have something similar you could probably pass, but if you are looking for something like this shade and with beautiful luminescence- then this is a good choice. It also is not one of the MAC disappointments that we have talked about before. This is a solid product, and it is soft and silky smooth! I'm totally digging on it!
