Sunday Riley Crème Gloss Sheer Impact Lip Color Pictures, Overview and Swatches!

A very lovely reader made a request for more information about Sunday Riley Crème Gloss Sheer Impact Lip Color Lip Glosses, therefore I decided to do this post about these wonderful little gems. I will add the remaining swatches as soon as I can go and swatch the shades that I don't have in my stash.

The Crème Gloss formula offers a dewy glossy finish with shimmer, but without any stickiness whatsoever (it's the antithesis of the sticky MAC Lipglass formula). This lip gloss formula is remarkably hydrating, and provides a fairly long-lasting wear time (provided that you aren't rubbing your lips together because it feels so good, or eating and drinking). It has the moisturizing properties of a lip balm, but with the elegant finish of a high-end luxury lip gloss. The consistency is much thinner than Chanel's Glossimers- which are thicker and stickier, but lack the moisturizing properties that one finds in the Crème Gloss Sheer Impact Lip Gloss formula.

This super conditioning lip gloss was specifically formulated to be non-tacky, long wearing, and conditioning while maintaining a high gloss sheen. Sunday Riley wanted to create universally flattering colors that ranged from semi-translucent, to shimmery, to intense pops of color. They can be worn alone or layered over lipsticks and/or lip liners. I have found that all of the shades tend to be more sheer than opaque, and the intensity of the color in the tube does not translate to the same level of intensity on the lips. Therefore, if you are looking for a lip gloss that is truly opaque you may be disappointed in the coverage. That said, you will not be disappointed with this phenomenal formula!

Frost Bite: Light shimmery blue-based pink

Key ingredients that make this a magically moisturizing lip gloss are:
Sunflower Seed Oil which provides high levels of hydration for the treatment (and prevention) of chapped lips- it conditions and nourishes very effectively.

Vitamin E also works wonders to nourish and condition even the driest of lips.

Stable Vitamin C is used because it effectively increases collagen levels to plump up the lips naturally. It also brightens skin, reduces melanin production (which can lead to hyperpigmentation), and is a powerhouse vitamin for its ability to repair the damaging effects of UV exposure.

Polybutene 100 is the magical ingredient that creates the intensely glossy shine without any of the tackiness that one usually finds in high shine lip glosses (making this ingredient one of the most coveted in Sunday Riley's Crème Glosses).

Ingredients:
Paraben Free

Overall assessment: I love these lip glosses! They are the most comfortable and moisturizing lip glosses that I have ever worn. I can even wear these lip glosses when my lips are very chapped, and frankly they heal my lips faster than most of my lip balms do. I love the formula, I love that the shades tend to be more sheer, and I love how well it layers over other lip products. I also find that it is so emollient and moisturizing that it keeps my lips supple and soft even when I wear more drying lipstick formulas. I view Crème Gloss Sheer Impact Lip Color as a beautiful treatment product that doubles as a lip gloss. Merrady & Suzi aptly said that it is like Juno Oil for the lips, and that sums it up perfectly!

  1. Wow, thanks for this post! ;) You've definitely sold me on the formula, can't wait to get my hands on one of these. Also can't wait to see what goodies you got from Rouge Bunny Rouge.
    Thanks again xxNaomi

    1. You are very very welcome, Naomi! I didn't want to make you wait too long- so this one was really for you! I will definitely get the other swatches up before too long. Truthfully though- you will find that they will all look like very sheered out versions of what you see in the tubes. For instance, Sangria and Beach Front are very very sheer on me with only the very slightest hint of color, but with lovely gleaming sparkles. Both swatches are very built up for the post, but the sheered out edges more closely approximate the color that you will see on your lips. Approach your color selection with that in mind. I know that there have been lots of people in the blogosphere who aren't fans of this gloss because they want far more opacity, and that's really not what these glosses are about. I really do think that you will fall in love with the formula- based on what you have told me that you like in a lip gloss. I would just suggest picking whatever color(s) you are drawn to- you really can't go wrong.

Oh-- Rouge Bunny Rouge- I have mad mad love for their products! I will probably post my first review this week. Have you fallen down that rabbit hole yet?? BE warned-- if you do there is no turning back!! xxLola

  2. I have Pink Lemonade and it doesn't show up on me. I guess I'll force you go swatch the rest so I can pick one out!

    1. I will definitely go swatch the others soon, but all of the ones that I have tried (whether in my stash or at Barneys) are very sheer. I don't think that you are going to find much more pigmentation than you are getting from Pink Lemonade. Sangria, which I have, is one of the darkest ones in the tube- and on me it is very sheer with only the very slightest bit of color. In my experience, the color that you see in the tube is not the color that you are going to get on your lips in terms of intensity. If you are looking for something more opaque I don't think that you are going to find it here. I know that there are bloggers out there who are unimpressed by these glosses for that very reason-- they simply aren't opaque. I love these glosses for the moisturizing formula, but if I want more color in a gloss I reach for one of my Chanel Glossimers. I will definitely let you know when I update this post with the remaining swatches.
