    1. Me too, Lindsey. In fact I love them so much I decided to plant a tree rather than buy them as fresh cut flowers! Wow, 10 cm of snow?!

  2. so pretty! do they have a strong smell? When I looked at the picture, I was thinking I wish they made a blush or lipstick that color! :)

    1. They smell so amazing. They are strong, but not overpowering! It's funny that I was thinking exactly the same thing about how fantastic a blush or lipstick would be in that color. That's part of the reason that I was thinking about Full of Joy from MAC's Tres Cheek. It's not quite the same, but it definitely reminded me of my lilacs.

  3. Lola you are lucky! Our blossoms are still around 3 weeks away. I planted a lilac bush under my bedroom window so I could smell it when waking up on spring mornings. My parents used to have a giant French lilac tree outside their bedroom window and I always remembered how good it smelled. I adore lilac.

I can't think of any lipsticks that have quite so much blue, but there are plenty of more plummy lipsticks. For eyeshadows, Chanel Lavande and Laura Mercier Dusk are lilac based and quite beautiful. Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Eyeshadow in Orchid is definitely lilac colored.

I'm not sure I'd want a blush that blue, but Clinique Iced Lotus is a clear bright pink with very slight red-purple (lilac) undertones. It contains some microshimmer in it, so you'd have to not mind wearing a blush with a glowy finish.

    1. I feel lucky to look out the window and see my beloved lilacs. Even better to take a break from work and go and smell them! 3 weeks will be here in no time, and then you will be so happy. What a wonderful idea to have planted it under your bedroom window as your parents had. I wish that I I could plant one under my bedroom window, but it's driveway instead :-(

Great suggestions on eye colors, thank you! Your swatches of LM Dusk are GORGEOUS! Your swatches of Chanel's Lavande are gorgeous, but I have little success with Chanel eyeshadows in general- so I won't bother trying to track one down. Bobbi Brown Orchid is GORGEOUS!!! So are Sand Dollar and Galaxy-- excellent review and swatches! Do you still reach for them often? Would you recommend them still? I'm still a huge MAC Paint Pot fan, and these are resonating with me despite the fact that most Bobbi Brown things no longer appeal to me.

Clinique's Iced Lotus is gorgeous, I haven't even looked at Clinique blushes and eye shadows in years-- I might have to go check that one out in person!!
