NARS Cosmetics Will Launch Andy Warhol Collection

Untitled from Marilyn Monroe (1967). MOMA

According to Julie Naughton at WWD,

Nars Cosmetics is giving Andy Warhol another 15 minutes of fame with a new color cosmetics collection expected this fall. Nars Andy Warhol — created by François Nars under a license with The Andy Warhol Foundation — is intended to evoke the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol in a limited edition collection said to showcase innovative packaging, formulas and shades. The project, which will be launched in the U.S. in October and elsewhere in November, is said to be the brand’s largest strategic collaboration to date.

Well count me among the very excited! I love Andy Warhol's work, his carefully self-crafted enigmatic public persona, and his commentary on the commodification of culture is as valid today as it was then. I am very curious to see what François Nars is going to come up with! That I love Warhol & NARS makes this all the more exciting! Are you interested in this collaboration? Do tell.

    1. Me too!! This could really be something amazing!! I'm sure that NARS will have to adhere to some stringent guidelines since the collaboration is with The Andy Warhol Foundation-- so my guess is that it will be fantastic! I can only imagine what the packaging will be like!

  2. booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

NARS is a good brand but whats up with the names?? Orgasm, Super Orgasm, Deep Throat, Sex Appeal... I don't mind these names, i'm a 22 year old woman who has a boyfriend, but I don't think this is the best brand for younger girls. I do respect this company but I feel like it's more targeted at mature/sophisticated adults.

Sorry for my rant, good post&blog;)

    1. Hi Ailyanna! Thanks for stopping by! I know that a lot of people are put off by the names of many of the NARS products. I love NARS products so much, but I respect and understand why so many people react as they do to the names.I completely hear what you are saying about the names perhaps not being appropriate for younger girls, and I agree that the line isn't being targeted to them either. Young girls first starting to use makeup are more likely to start out with something like Revlon, Wet'n'Wild etc. before getting into luxury lines like NARS. However, you do raise valid points!

No need to be sorry!! You are hardly the first person to be bugged by the names, and you certainly won't be the last!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

  3. oh thanks for replying;)!! my niece is 10 and into makeup and thanks for suggesting affordable brands like Revlon and Wet'n'Wild because my niece is obsessed with NARS and I'm slowly and patiently trying to get her to try the cheaper stuff first because she's only 10, and she protest that they are "crap" brands because they don't look luxurious with the brand name. and most well known youtubers like macbarbie07 and juicystar always promote the higher end goods, which is fine for me, but not a 10 year old.

btw is there a way to follow your blog?? because you seem realistic and not at all fake like all the other mainstream beauty bloggers.

    have a good day

    1. You are so welcome, Ailyanna!!

Your niece should also look at Milani-- they have awesome things!! I agree-- 10 us a little young for NARS purchases-- that isn't an inexpensive line by any stretch of the imagination. Plus- truth be told, drugstore brands have REALLY stepped up their game in a BIG way-- it's not like it used to be. Plus there are so many sales to make it even more affordable!
